Definitive Edition could Salvage DmC

DmC: Devil May Cry was a decent game, but it was probably the biggest letdown of 2013 for fans of the series and the genre.

Thought the game was awesome on PS3 and I'm def gettin it on PS4 ASAP. I liked Dante and all but not enough to hold me out on this awesome game.

Blastoise4154d ago

I don't think DmC can be considered a let down when people were slagging it off from the get-go

Revolt134154d ago

Pleeeease, follow up with a sequel Ninja Theory, DmC2 would be amazing!

hkgamer4154d ago

wow. i thought you would be public enemy no 1 by now

Adrian_v014154d ago

Yes, I wanna hear Vergil elaborate more on his d**k size.

Acquiescence4154d ago

then that would be really swell right there. I'd love to see Ninja Theory follow it up.

You can't fix bad story telling, awful characters and inferior dmc gameplay in a "Definitive Edition"....besides this is Capcom so it won't be that much improvement. Just a quickly done port to see if it could salvage disappointing sales from last gen

Hopefully after this people can just forget this ever came out and we can continue Dantes adventures in DMC 5

Godmars2904154d ago

Don't know what's worse: the game's bad story telling, or that that story telling has been defended as the new standard of what "good" story telling is.

-Foxtrot4154d ago (Edited 4154d ago )

DMC never had the best storytelling or dialogue but good god dmcs was bad.

Why do people defend it though, I mean if you never liked past DMC games and like this one fair enough but I've seen people try to make it out like we (old fans) are in the wrong and how it's an amazing game even though they haven't played or didn't like the old games.

For being old games they actually are better then the new one and when a new game in a franchise is inferior to the old ones then you have a problem.

Roccetarius4154d ago

DMC has a decent story, but i'm sure it could've been better if they hadn't switched developers. Obviously i would've been a bit dissapointed, if i wasn't notified Capcom had a sequel in mind for DMC as well.

Either way, a few tweaks to the game will still not save it. They'll definitely not change the attitude of this ''character'' nor the music they used. Those are just examples of things, but they really understood how to insult the original developers.

AceBlazer134154d ago (Edited 4154d ago )

I don't mind the older fans hating the game, the problem for me is when they try to claim that DmC is worse than DMC 4. DMC 4 was not that great, the story was meh and the game was a literal hallway back and forth. DmC at least added some decent platforming to the combat.

DmC> DMC 4

so if old dmc fans could tolerate the half assed game that was DMC 4 they should tolerate DmC.

What ninja theory did with DmC was a decent first attempt for a dev working on the series, it has potential to fix what was wrong with in sequels. As opposed to the 4th entry in the series throwing a random new character with no backstory and a weak plot.

-Foxtrot4154d ago

DMC 4 was better then dmc despite DMC 4 being an average game

That's saying something about dmc...that's how bad of a DMC game it was.

VileAndVicious4154d ago

"DMC 4 was better then dmc despite DMC 4 being an average game"

DMC4 was flat out bad. Average is not running down the same hallways backtracking and literally fighting the same bosses over and over. The game was lazily developed, not to mention its incredibly blah story that contributes absolutely nothing to the franchise.

To me next to DMC2, DMC4 was one of the biggest let-downs in the series. There's hardly anything positive I can say about it other than it had nice graphics and the brief time you got to play as Dante was fun. But meh I suppose.

The_Devil_Hunter4154d ago

The combat in DMC4 was absolutely top notch, especially when playing as Dante and your were able to switch styles on the fly, that shit was amazing.

DmC: Devil May Cry - So Good They Named it Twice

DmC: Devil May Cry launched 10 years ago to critical acclaim, but caused a significant stir amongst fans of the series.

SDuck1218d ago

all in all, it was the 2nd most replayed by me (first being dmc5)

Godmars2901218d ago

Named it twice cause they lacked imagination.

ApocalypseShadow1218d ago

No matter how many times they try to push this game, I'll never play it.

But the PR keeps pushing it and pushing it when other DMC games are better and sold better.

TheLigX1217d ago

Lol that’s absurd. You must be a real charmer.

Sgt_Slaughter1217d ago (Edited 1217d ago )

Ah we're at that point in time where failed games end up being needlessly defended and pushed as "underrated" or "gems"

There's a reason this caused Capcom to go back to the traditional DMC franchise.

DMC V became the top selling game in the series by a longshot. Even the team was more eager to make a new DMC game rather than try and continue the DmC reboot/spin-off and listened to fan input for V.

CBaoth1217d ago (Edited 1217d ago )

cue the puff pieces for Ninja Theory. Like what we saw happen with Deathloop and Tokyo, the MS marketing team is starting the hype machine early. So we see the revisionist history with their past games. Suddenly it's the best in the series lol. They've never made a bad game, they've just never made a successful one. Now, right or wrong because of the timing, their new game has the extra pressure of being the face of GP in 2022 alongside Starfield and Redfall. A lot of pressure for a studio that made its last game with 30 people. Let's hope 4th time's the charm

It sold poorly it’s why we have DMC5 instead of DmC 2 and from what I’ve been seeing of that Anarchy Reigns clone from Team Ninja I think it was for the better.
