A**holes. They ruined the Fallout 3 with a first person view instead of a must Isometric view and now are attacking Diablo 3 for staying faithful to its roots and fans.
I hope this story isn't fully true or I might lose a whole lot of respect for Bethesda.

He says he is disappointed with Blizzard for keep a traditional design with Diablo and Starcraft. He is not saying he is disappointed with Diablo nor is he comparing it to Fallout. In fact, Fallout isn't mentioned one single time in the quote.

I think what he is saying is reasonable and make sense. Deep down inside, we all want to see innovation in the games we play, but sometimes when they don't change much we still love them for staying true to the old school design that has a habit for stirring up good old memories.

I can see from the quote that, like many of us, he loves Blizzards games unconditionally.

But again problem is they arent innovating . From what we've seen so far they are stripping fallout of some feature and basically tweaking oblivion to feature it's guns and universe ...

Diablo 3 is still stuck in the past. Thats what this guy point is.

Keeping Isometric is the best thing for Diablo.

Same could be said about Fallout. Keeping it isometric would had been the best thing you can do.

I lost my fanboyism for them when they made the INSULT of a game called Oblivion.

Oblivion is a damn INSULT to all Morrowind fans like me.

And I completely lost my fanboyism for them when they said Fallout 3 is gonna be FPS.

Will I buy FO3? Yes because I love fallouts, but my excepations are very low to it because its more mainstream bullcrap like Oblivion then a real Fallout.

both games are getting overhyped, everybody is talking about them like they give a sh!t and it probably wont reflect sales. Every damn sequel to a good game is getting a insane amount of hype these days.

I think I'm the one who is disappointed with Fallout 3. This guy Ashley Cheng (or gal ? It's very ridiculious for a guy with the name of Ashley) and his/her mates are ruining Fallout for making the 3rd installment of the game a Oblivion-Clone !

Diablo 3 is PC only so far...Fallout 3 will be out of xbox 360 and PS3 and PC...and it story is way better than diablo....but diablo will be so addictive like world of warcrack and starcrack 2...

They need to make starcraft 2 for the consoles...(ie xbox 360 and PS3)

after all the old school fallout fans were in an uproar over the new direction their going with fallout 3, he tries to talk down about blizzard making a game for their fans with diablo 3 and starcraft 2. well, we'll see who completely dominates who in sales, even though fallout if multiplatform. diablo staying the course, instead of taking the easy fps way out had me running through the streets in celebration.

yeah. they are being conservative to take care of their old fans. not like bathesda that is enraging fallout hardcore fans.

I'm sure Blizzard's employees are crying themselves to sleep at night because Ashley Cheng doesn't approve of their games. It is noteworthy that they're crying into pillows stuffed with money, which are placed on a bed stuffed with money, which is located in a house built of money encased in diamonds and gold. Yeah, it's not a pretty house, but it sure gets the point across. :P

Actually i believe he is pissed off that a company as great as Blizzard doesn't fall victim to fashion and use 1st person cam and super-duper 3D graphics to make Diablo 3, BUT decided to make it a TRUE sequel and keep the core gameplay intact while expanding it into the future.
Isometric is not dead. And Blizzard will show it to them, so they can understand their idiocy in completely destroying the fallout series and making it into a s.t.a.l.k.e.r + oblivion game.

games will be good but lets face it, FALLOUT 3 isnt the fallout I know and Love. Diablo III is!

Diablo 3 might be more addictive but Fallout 3 will have a much better story and character progression. Diablo has an always will be a boring clickfest for loot, nothing more. Entertaining when I was 12 maybe, but I actually want something more out of a game than pretty looking loot, and it honestly isn't that pretty. Other than the destructible environments, it looks exactly the same as Diablo 2 with a higher resolution. And as it was stated, there will be even MORE mouse clicking in this Diablo. These games require no skill or thought, just pointless clicking...yawn. And honestly, saving Deckard Cain AGAIN? Isn't that guy dead yet? Same boring Barbarian as before? Only 5 classes? And the new one is just a mishmash of WoW classes. Diablo 3 is more of the exact same thing. If some people want that, go right ahead, you're welcome to it. I'm looking much more forward to Fallout 3. The concept is much more interesting to me, the story will be as well, and the style of game it is hasn't really been done before. Who cares if it's not the "old Fallout"? Just pretend it has a different name and it's its own game. I'm sure it will be amazing on its own.

I couldn't be happier that Blizz is keeping the old perspective and gameplay style: in fact that's the reason I'm looking forward to D3 way more than F3.

Why change something that really isn't broken?

Why are millions of people still playing Starcraft and Diablo 2? It's got nothing to do with the graphics its because the most important factor is the gameplay which these games have ample amounts of. First-person perspective are not always the best way to go, and it's not like the market is not already flooded with generic FPS games.

Blizzard has always stuck to their guns to make the games they feel should be made and how they want the game to look and run. If anything there likely trying to expand on the games that are still loved and been able to put things into the game that was not possible 10 years at the same time not alienating its fanbase in the process.

I'm actually going to go home and install Diablo 2 now :D

This guys opinion and regardless of his title or job at Bethesda, I respect his opinion and will leave it at that. I on the other hand do not share his sentiment and love that Diablo III retains the isometric view and will be buying it day one... And a new computer to boot!

I think he is more disappointed in the fact that Diablo III doesn't seem to be doing much new and different then the past games. When I saw it I said awesome it looks just like Diablo should. However there is a side at me that wonders what Diablo 3 could be like if they didn't limit it to the franchise formula. No doubt Diablo III will be incredible and I will be picking it up day one whenever that may be. But with both StarCraft 2 and Diablo III it seems that Blizzard is playing it safe by making the game more of the same with far better graphics and much deeper game play. Not that that's a bad thing though.

Im excited for fallout 3 too. This guy says starcrat should be FPS too. NOT AT ALL. THE ONE STRATEGY GAME THAT SHOULD HAVE A FPS option is HALO WARS. Imagine playing halo wars, kinda like starcraft right. Not if you could command you troops, build your base and then switch to FPS mode as one of the heros. uhh heros like a spartan? uhh yeah. Halo with a 3d starcraft ripoff add on, that would be awsome and people might actually buy it.

But the Fallout 3 producer is wrong. They MUST be conservative with these games. They must keep the same good ol' feeling. The only thing I wish they change is making Fallout 3's combat more fast paced, and it seems to be what they're doing

What's interesting here is the numerous defenders of Diablo III and Starcraft II.

In the console world sequels which fail to deliver substantial updates in visuals/gameplay over their predecessors, are declared version .5 of said predecessor.

Why does every game have to change drastically. If it changed totally then it would be complaints about it not being like the original 2. Just play the game, it's gonna be amazing.

Really all I can say is that as long as Bethesda keeps the atmosphere and the intelligence behind the series intact I will probably be pretty happy with it.

I do have to agree that Oblivion was a step back in alot of ways from Morrowind but I think bethesda is just trying the make their games more accessible to a wider audience. I really can't say as a fan that I am happy with that direction, but from a business standpoint I do understand it.

I had a few friends of mine play Morrowind when it came out on the Original Xbox and alot of them whined because it was too difficult, and those same friends ended up loving Oblivion. I like alot of the things that have been shown about Fallout 3 especially the character creation system,and the choice system sounds much more involved this time around. so I kind of believe we should hold off judgement until we can actually play the game.

The Fallout games have always been great RPGS and from what I have seen it doesn't look to me like 3 is going to disappoint. The game maybe different, but just because Bethesda is changing aspects to fit what they know doesn't mean that it will be bad.

As far as Diablo 3, I will buy it and play it, and probably love it as much as I did 2, but sometimes when watching the videos I do wish you could go 3rd person, but thats not a huge problem for me.

People will always have on opinion, and any time a series changes, the fans will normally always get pissed off to some extent, I can attest to this the most with Final Fantasy, I hated 12 compared to previous games, it just didn't feel like Final Fantasy should. I personally think thats the most important thing in any franchise keeping that Iconic feel that makes these games so popular from the start.

what is this huge backlash against bethesda for? They have done nothing but make some truly great games. Sure oblivion was a step down for morrowind, but morrowind was one of th best games of all time. Oblivion was still a great game. None of you have played fallout 3, so stop complaining and saying how they ruined the franchise like a bnuch of 8 year olds.
