It's funny that PS fanboys come into an Xbox article to leave negative comments. I guess they don't have anything to play so they have to come into other systems articles just to leave stupid comments. I don't have a PS or Wii, so why would I jump into an article on little big planet or smash brothers?

You really can only get into 1 gameplay type. Unless you want to brave the shoddy connection that is likely trying to embark on a gametype with only 50 people in it. That and it being the same people, so if one side is ruling the roost, and you're not on it, you are basically screwed and can't find another match.

Disclosure: I played the Titanfall Beta and got it day one on PC. I love it and have returned to playing it several times since March.

I do, however think that it was, despite its great design ideas, partially a failure. I played it again last night and every single one of the DLC map playlists had 0 worldwide players. The most played list was Attrition with just over 700 worldwide players. This game is great and I'm looking forward to the sequel, but I believe that too much went into pushing this game's release date and exclusivity status to make a brand new IP with new game mechanics have the longevity it needs. 7 million users may or may not include all three platforms (of which there may be some overlap), multiple users on the same console, console game trade-in/resells, and possibly even Beta players.

From the dev interviews I saw, they said spent less than 2 years on this game, and it kind of shows. It's using the archaic Source engine that neither runs optimized for the scale of combat the game involves nor shines all that bright, On monster PCs and even the exclusive consoles it was released on, it struggles to hold up 60fps. It has a pretty minimal amount of gear and customization. Complexity isn't always better, but it seems to me that they had to conserve development resources and clearly gear quantity and customization was one of the major casualties. No campaign, and no single player/co-op to speak of, up until the recent "horde mode" patch just released. A fun diversion, but people do still buy shooters to play the campaign. Animation jankiness and camera jumpiness could be improved too, no matter what your framerate is, it still looks like you're losing frames when in a titan, breaking the immersion somewhat.

All in all, I still love and play the game, but its shortcomings do point to a downsized and low-budget game, despite the hype and marketing train behind it. Let's hope they see fit to do a full multiplat current-gen and PC release with more time to fill out its content.

This won't be a COD-killer, but it should be a healthy alternative to the monster that the dominant annual shooter franchise can be.

TL;DR: Played it, loved it, but Titanfall was incomplete. There were less than 2,000 players worldwide on PC last night.
