Fallout 3 Exclusive - Interview and Info

Gameplayer has started a Fallout week where each day they will be going live with some special editorial on the apocoplyptic action RPG coming from Oblivion developer Bethesda. First up they have an exclusive interview with Tim Howard about how they will be approaching the game and what features fans can, and can't, expect in the final release.

"Fallout is a game series with some of the most rabid and dedicated fans around. They're an intimidating bunch when they get riled, and the future of their beloved game is the most likely topic to get their ire brewing. Such was the case when Bethesda perpetrated the heinous crime of purchasing the rights to the Fallout franchise (first just sequels 3, 4 and 5, and then the whole caboodle) in July 2004. The fan reaction at the time couldn't have been more negative."

Now this was unexpected. "Fallout 3 Week – Episode 1" AWESOME. Can't wait for "including new screens". Awesome find and great read.

"How we learned to stop worrying and love Fallout 3", it's pretty simple. Think of Fallout 3 as BioShock of System Shock series.

SlappingOysters6533d ago

I also thought Bioshock, before I thought Oblivion with Guns. One thing is for sure, there is definitely a hint of bioshock in the art design and sound in that trailer

MK_Red6533d ago

Good point but the reason I said it is that BioShock was a rather simplified version of System Shock 2 (Some say really watered down). I think Fallout 3 is the same.

But seriously good point about the design of Fallout 3. It's kinda funny. BioShock itself was partly inspired by Fallout 1 & 2. The devs even gave few nods to Fallout with the biggest one having a Vault Boy, featured in the game as WC signs. Now Fallout is following BioShock.
Even the producers said in interviews that BioShock is as close as they can get to a really hardcore and deep game. The insanely deep and complex PC RPGs of the 90s can never happen today unless there is a miracle or something.

But tbh I'll be happy with anything!

I literally can't wait for the game

Silogon6533d ago

Still no clue why I should be so excited about this but I kind of am.

MK_Red6533d ago

I just feel sad that they are mostly focusing on Fallout 1. I liked that but Fallout 2 is my absolute fave. The Enclave RULES!

Would be nice if they had New Vegas ready as well, especially because of the show.

Hopefully this doesn't have the same performance issues as Oblivion Remastered.

cloganart123d ago

I haven't seen anything on these performance issues? What's been going on?

walken7123d ago

Probably the Unreal Engine issues, I skipped it for that reason.

Snookies12124d ago (Edited 124d ago )

Throw in all the DLC as well, like Oblivion and I'll definitely bite. I recall having one trophy left to unlock on the PS3 version with 100+ hours in my save. When my save file got corrupted, lol. Very sad day.

To be fair though, Bethesda was trash at Playstation ports anyway.

Michiel1989124d ago

all devs sucked at porting to ps3 for the first like 3 years because no one had experience with the cell architecture. Even 1st party took a long while to get proficient with it, the difference between uncharted 1 and 3 is massive for example.

Extermin8or3_124d ago

Oh oh oh I can do this too. GTA 7 will be made at some point in the future. Fallout 5 will enter development in the future too

jznrpg124d ago

Everyone there should know most gamers want New Vegas and Morrowind more than anything.

Christopher123d ago

Which is why we won't get them. Gotta keep floating "support this one and it might happen".

BlaqMagiq1124d ago

Can't wait. Won't have to go back to my PS3 to play this when it comes out.

Fallout 3 remastered on the Nintendo Switch 2 is what we deserve, not the worst Fallout game

Fallout Day's disappointing news that Fallout 4 is coming to Switch 2 is a shame, as this 17-year-old entry is more deserving of a new port.

Why exactly do you think you deserve it??

Phoenix76196d ago

Fallout 4 isn't the worst game in the franchise. It's either Fallout 76 or Fallout BOS that's the worst.

gigoran8195d ago

PC and all other modern consoles never got a remaster of 3, but obviously the switch 2 was the tipping point to make it a reality... ahuh

1nsomniac195d ago

Meh, I thought 3 was garbage. I'm not a great fan of the franchise to be fair. They're like B-Movie films, really shallow and janky. 4 was definitely one of the better ones though.

UltimateOwnage195d ago

So the article makes a snippy entitled statement and acts like that is going to encourage a publisher to give them what they want. Okay.

Give us FO3 with all the dlc remastered like ESO. Load times faster, quality of life improvements, gun play improvements

I believe it shouldn't just be graphical they should make improvements where they can to make the game better. A simple face lift isn't what's needed

ZeekQuattro383d ago

Still my favorite one. I remember getting a digital copy of FO3 when I got FO4(XBO). It was nice to finally play a stable version of the game. Then when I got a Series S it was an even better expierence. Quick resume and FPS boost made it feel like a whole new game. Updated gunplay would be very welcome though. One of the few things FO4 did better.
