Really, the only fondness that I have for titles like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Dig Dug comes from the memories I have of playing them as a youth. It's no surprise that my patience with successive re-releases is increasingly waning. I look at release list after release list and find myself barely skimming over those so-called golden oldies. I don't have a reason to go back to those games, I already created my relationship with them. To get me to really go back, I've got to be able to glean something new from the experience, and that's what has me so excited about Bionic Commando: Rearmed.
Already, I know that the day this game releases I'll be happily dropping my money for the two-decade old side-scroller. It's strange to say this so strongly, but Capcom has really taught me a thing or two about what a proper re-release should be in this day and age. Sure the updated graphics are pretty, really pretty, but the game is not just some precision facelift. It's more like a soul lift."

The Humble Capcom Heroic Collection Bundle just launched recently. It has ten items including Monster Hunter Rise, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy, Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, and more.

"On this week's episode of The 1099 Podcast, the composer at 10 Chambers, former audio director at Starbreeze, and man behind the sound design in favorites like Payday 2, Bionic Commando Rearmed, and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, Simon Viklund, joins host Josiah Renaudin to explain how sound gets into games. Simon details what it's like creating both music and sounds for major video games, how aspiring designers can break into the industry, whether or not you have to capture all of your own original sounds, and what makes upcoming co-op shooter GTFO special."

And what better way to enjoy the delights of the summer sun than by picking up a new game or two at discounted prices.
