I would love another Prime style game, just think of the possibilities with the Wii U's power. Prime 1 and 2 still look gorgeous today.

Is that a Prime game or Other M? I shamefully haven't played Other M yet and I don't remember that from the Prime series.

swice4400d ago

That doesn't look like Metroid Prime. The visor is wrong

deafdani4400d ago

Yeah, that's not a Metroid Prime screen, lol. Just a fan art.

Yes, the Prime games all look astoundingly good for their hardware, but no Gamecube nor Wii game can look like that.

:P

-Foxtrot4400d ago (Edited 4400d ago )

Hopefully

One of those bosses better be Ridley...in some form.

randomass1714400d ago

Ridley was in every Prime game. I'm sure they'll bring him back again. Retro loves (killing) Ridley! :P

mohuzas4400d ago (Edited 4400d ago )

^He wasn't in Prime 2 and Prime Hunters :P

randomass1714400d ago

Oh crap you're right! I totally forgot about his omission in 2. Didn't really think anyone counted Hunters though. Not that it's a bad thing or anything.

Concertoine4400d ago

Anyone know how many people work at retro? It seems like theyre always hiring.

randomass1714400d ago

I remember reading a story that Nintendo moved Retro into a bigger building because their team is over double what it used to be.

bass4g4400d ago

That'd be enough for them to have double the amount of teams. hmmmm.....

thehobbyist4400d ago

That's a successful studio for you.

porkChop4400d ago

So basically the game could be anything.

mikel10154400d ago

Oh Retro Studios, why do you always make me happy? I'm glad they are hiring new people to add to their team. It's a good counter-balance for all the firing going on lately

thehobbyist4400d ago

It's not just them, all of the Big N is expanding.

LightDiego4400d ago

A new Metroid? How i wish a new Banjo from Retro Studios, right Microsoft?

SpiralTear4400d ago

Well, Retro Studios is pretty much filling Rareware's shoes now. Multiple genres of expertise, amazing quality games, recognizable franchises...it's Rareware if Rareware was still good and was still with Nintendo.

deafdani4400d ago

Multiple genres? The only games I know from Retro are Donkey Kong Country for Wii and Wii U (both awesome games), and the Prime series for Cube and Wii (awesome games, too).

That's 2 genres, although admittedly VERY different from each other. Have the guys at Retro Studios made anything else?

Don't get me wrong, I think their games so far have been top-notch. But that's the thing... they are still fairly new with not so many games under their belt, so I can't compare them fairly with Rareware, which made so many games in their history with Nintendo.

Anyway, I'm pretty sure that Retro can eventually match Rare (and maybe even surpass them), if they work on enough varied titles and are given enough time to build up their game catalog.

:)

Review: Metroid Prime 4 Beyond On Switch 2 | Digital Foundry

Retro Studios has built incredible atmosphere, puzzle-solving and environmental diversity. Based on the length of the development cycle, we must assume it's designed primarily around the limits of Switch 1 (we have yet to see that version of the game) so the strategy for Switch 2 is seemingly to supercharge a good-looking game to run and feel even better.

Benn waiting on this game for a lonnnng time.

repsahj168d ago

Yes! And they said that MP4 has top notch HDR effects, if you have a capable Display like OLED or MiniLED.

Neonridr167d ago

man this review makes me so hyped for the game now. Really happy with the overall presentation here. Now I'm debating running the game in performance mode since it looks like only the resolution takes a hit while everything else remains the same. 120fps is tempting.

repsahj167d ago

I will try first the quality then maybe I will use performance after I unlocked the hardest difficulty.

badz149167d ago

so...it's not 4K60Hz haha. they didn't even mention 1440p which makes this a false advertisement.

repsahj166d ago

How did it become false advertising? The game is still being displayed as 4k @ 60 right? They didn't say anything about "NATIVE" 4k @ 60.

Even Naughty Dog said that The Last of Us part 1 is 4k@60 performance mode even though it's also 1440P upscaled, right?

Neonridr165d ago

they never said Native 4K. I guess no PS5 title is 4K either then.

not too bright are you there skippy.

badz149157d ago

GT7 is native 4K and so are many sports games. What do you mean none?

Neonridr156d ago

@badz149 - and GT7 is also a cross-gen title. What 1st party Sony title has hit 4K native since?

Gamersunite880167d ago

Tomorrow! It's almost here! After such a long wait!

repsahj166d ago

My copy arrived earlier today together with my pre ordered AC Shadows that got delayed 2 days as expected delivery! Now I don't know what to play at first, but decided to finish MP4 first.

Gamersunite880166d ago

That's awesome! Prime 4 has been my most anticipated game for years and it's finally out. I can't wait to tear into it.

Metroid Prime Dev "Let Down" As Original Credits Excluded From Remaster

Currently, the original developers are credited via a generic slate.

It's safe to say that it's the original developers who conceptualised and built these games in such a way that they're worthy of a remaster or remake today. Even if they had nothing to do with the new iteration, the dev team behind a remaster would be nowhere without the original vision – and so, the original dev team deserves a place in the credits of a remaster. That's exactly how former Retro studios engineer Zoid Kirsch feels.

Based on the work of the original development team.

That's pretty low..

Double_O_Revan1192d ago

Depending on how long the credits are for the current team, I can see why it would be decided not to essentially double that.

Welshy1192d ago (Edited 1192d ago )

How long or short credits are is irrelevant. Every man or woman who put their time into the creation of anything (tv, movies, animation etc too) should have their names stamped on it, no excuses.

Noone realistically sits and reads every name and actually thanks them, but it's important to the people involved to have it there for what small validation or thanks it brings them. A little thing they can show their friends and family for years to come and feel proud to have contributed to. Kind of like seeing your face for 1 frame in the crowd on TV at a football match and having your own little stamp to show you were there.

Welshy1192d ago

Without those original devs, there is no beloved game to remaster and put new names on. Disappointing Nintendo, do the right thing and patch it in.
