The Wii U is having a bit of a rough time. While it’s a bit of a cliche to mention that in a Nintendo article, it’s hard to ignore their relatively weak software release schedule of 2014, which is not really the improvement that everyone was expecting. Sure, the spectacular Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze was released in February and Mario Kart 8 drops at the end of May but, other than that, what else is there? It’s evident that Nintendo can’t seem to keep up with a consistent release calendar, despite promising gamers that they learned from their mistakes for the second time regarding software droughts, the first being with the 3DS.

Insider Gaming - "Ubisoft has cancelled yet another game, this time ending development on the Animal Crossing-inspired title Alterra."

HALIFAX (April 14, 2026) – Laid-off Ubisoft workers in Halifax have voted overwhelmingly in favour of a settlement with the video-game giant. The terms of the settlement, including the compensation employees will receive, is confidential.
I can't sit here and act like I know these workers financial situations. And I'm sure nobody wakes up WANTING to go to court. But for the sake of the industry, I wish some of these types of cases made it to trial.
Settlements allow companies to continue to do whatever abusive practices they do. While the trials (should the company lose) would actually force real changes for the better.
But again, I'm not in these workers shoes and I can understand them not wanting to risk it.

Two-day event includes exclusive reveals, trailers and playable games on show floor.
I have bought most of Ubisoft's games that have come out on Wii U. I will continue to buy Ubi's games that come to the Wii U.
I love how Ubi supports the WiiU. Ubisoft has been doing a lot of things right lately. They are quickly working their way up my list of favorite companies.
Can't wait until I get to play Child of Light.
And we all need Nintendo. Go third party Nintendo, make the world a better place!
Keep supporting the Wii U Ubisoft and dont abandon it like other 3rd party developers. Wii U owners need you to play games like Raymen, Watchdogs and Assassins Creed.
I wouldn't mind SouthPark Stick of Truth coming to the Wii U I'd play it again. Hopefully they will port the game.
