Preview: Titanfall Beta | At7addak

Shanklish writes "If you've spent any time online in the last few days, you've probably seen the craze the Titanfall beta created. You've also probably seen the hype over this game since it was first announced. Well, let me tell you – it's well deserved. I haven't felt this good about a shooter since Halo 2/3 and those games changed the FPS genre for me and this weekend, Titanfall did too."

I don't think its set a new standard per say.

I think what it offers is a refreshing take on the classic COD formula.

The pacing is brilliant and the gameplay is super tight.

For it to set the standard, its mechanics have to be implemented in future games. However, Titanfall's mechanics are unique to itself. The fast pace wall-running elements etc were done in Brink albeit to questionable success and Titan gameplay is obviously central to this game itself.

So Titanfall is more a continuation or refinement of that tight, fast-paced arena multiplayer gameplay. It delivered pretty much exactly what I was expecting and I'm more than happy about that :)

..... couldn't have said it better, well said

Yeah, you nailed it there, Septic. But I think what he meant is that speed, you were talking about? That fast-paced, tight gameplay is what really sets it apart. Wall running mechanics aside, they were able to change the stagnant FPS genre and break the pattern.

The new standard is that no generic FPS will do anymore. With Titanfall and Destiny coming, I can agree that another CoD installment or any other shooter will flop, easily.

Side note: Whenever I read an article of his I crave having shanklish.

Only Arabs or Lebanese will get this.

A new standard? i'll take 32v32 on big maps with vehicles and destructible environments any day over 6v6 with "bots" on small maps

New standard yeahhhhhh right

RamsesNum14471d ago

Sounds like a Ps4 owner. I still can't believe this 6v6 thing has people riled up. 4v4 was always the standard for arena shooters. The maps are not small, their big enough to house 6 titans, a whole team of players and bots.

The bots aren't something you go for, they're not a target. If you happen to run into one, you can easily just shoot it or run away. They're not your primary target, just a companion.

Don't judge it until you play it.

He is just mad, he will get over it!

Hellsvacancy4471d ago (Edited 4471d ago )

PS4 owner? not yet buddy

4v4 was always the standard for arena shooters - way back in the 90s maybe

Don't judge it until you play it, maybe your right, I don't need to try all things to know I won't like them, like the thought of eating Crab or watching The Hunger Games or even making love to another man, I know I wouldn't like it

Mad? totally, just not the kind your referring to

RamsesNum14471d ago

Well, this is kind of thing where you need to play it to judge it. Watching it on Youtube is one thing and playing it is another.

When logic meets EA it generates anti-matter ..... so try not to apply it in any meaningful way. Entropy is what matters in there !!

cue the apologist saying that these are mostly just contractors hired for this specific project bla bla bla

The community warned them this would happen but nope they knew better they continued with the live service push the made the art style cartoonish and this is the result

isarai_lee78d ago

It's always so bizarre when studios announce something super early in development under the suggestion of forming the game to player feedback, and then they push against all feedback heading straight for the cliff while everyone is warning them along the way

US Lawmakers Urge Review Of EA Sale

The Congressional Labor Caucus sent a letter to the FTC warning the debt-financed, largely PIF-owned deal could be bad news for workers

lol ya think? they're sending all that work to the cheaper labor market as soon as possible. and FYI, that labor market has exploded in the last 5-10 years. They have enough people to replace every single job. But honestly, EA is over filled with useless upper management as it is. You could probably trim 25% of their staff with no real loss in production. They aren't gamers, they're business execs. Just look at how many AI related jobs they're already starting to post. Its also hilarious that PIF owns Battle field 6

Wait,

The same congress that attacked Lina Khan when she fought the Microsoft Activision purchase.
The same congress that allowed Disney to buy 90% of Fox
The same congress that allowed Liv Golf to buy the PGA
The same congress that sits back while Paramount tries a hostile takeover despite losing the bid for Warner Bros.

NOW, the suddenly cares about doing what's "right" for works? Yeah, right.

No. There were elections and some of the scum were replaced.

Different elections. Different scum. Same results.

EA now owned by The Saudis and Ubisoft to inevitably be owned by China. In hindsight, once EA and Ubisoft started having their financial woes, they should have pulled a Koei Tecmo/Bandai Namco by merging their operations into one.
