This article certainly lives up to the website's name.

Ha, for better and for worse.

1. Smart pistol - I've played a few hours of the BETA on the X1 and I've been killed by the smart pistol twice. No one really uses it because it has no range and you'll lose against any other gun. So his argument that it's a noob weapons is non-exist ant. Now maybe more people will use it in the full game, but right now not many do.

2. Minions/Bots - Are they stupid? Yes. Could they be smarter? Definitely. Do I want them turning the tide and be the difference between winning and losing? No. After I just finished fighting a titan, why should a bot from 100 yards away hit me with a rocket and blow me up? The bots are all over the map, never in the same place. They go to objectives. I use them as bait sometimes. I wish they either took more damage or followed you around.

3. It's not next gen - Why, because it's not the most beautifully graphical game ever? The gameplay is tight, the graphics are good, and it's fun to play. A lot of people think Ryse was next-gen because it looked good even though it was a button mashing/button timing game.

And the whole "6v6 is a joke" is a tough one. Could you fit 20v20 pilots only? Yes. Could you fit 20v20 pilots with titans? No way. These maps are small and tight as it is. On Angel City the streets are wide enough for 1 titan. I've had matched where there were 10 titans walking around, you couldn't move and most of the time were shooting teammates. And majority of the time, pilots aren't even in their titan. So you could have 12v12 theoretically. Pilots alone, feels a little empty. As soon as titans start dropping though, player count feels perfect.

Just a question based off your comment

If you don't want the bots to be smarter why have them there? From your comment it seems they are quite pointless. They are not intelligent nor pose any real challenge but you don't want them to be challenging otherwise it will be (understandably) annoying to be blown up constantly by bots. Why are they there then? They are not like civilians adding to the atmosphere and feel of the environments. They are trying to do something but are too dumb to do anything meaningful

The other point (not a question) about is it a next gen game really depends on how the 360 game plays like/how it compares to other next generation shooters. The question (that applies to all launchish games) is could I be playing this on my older console. Ryse is a next generation game because it would be to visually demanding for a last generation system (regardless of simplistic gameplay you point out). The question is does Titanfall's gameplay means it can only be played on a next generation system (something the 360 version will hopefully answer) because its visuals don't help its case (for a $60 game for a new $500 system).

The bots are tricky, they really are. What I would like to see is the bots take more damage, meaning they are tough to kill. That way if you come across three of them, shooting them up could give away your position. As it is now, they will go to objectives, stand there, and wait to be killed. I actually was killed by one the other day because my health was so low. If I am in a titan, they do shoot rockets at you which is kind of annoying (in a good way). And if they are bad ass, casual gamer cant enjoy. My suggestion? Have a hardcore mode where the bots are really strong and can pose a challenge. They really are there to fill the map because like I said, you can fit 20v20 pilots only, but not 20v20 titans. If they wanted to up the player count to 10v10, I think that would be the max. But theoretically you could have 20 pilots and 20 titans walking around, would be really congested. I know 6v6 isn't a lot, but it does work.

The multiplatform, we have COD and BF that are on multiple consoles. Only difference really is graphics.

If you don't own an X1, should you buy one just for Titanfall? I'd say no because you can get it on PC or 360 (if you have either). If you don't have a 360 or X1, I'd then buy an X1 because eventually you have to go to next gen systems and lot of games down the line coming for next gen. I dont even know what Titanfall looks like on 360, it might be a big difference.

I think people are viewing the random AI wrong. I see them as creeps like in MOBAs. Worth a little towards the goal of a Titan whereas a player, just like in MOBAs, are worth considerably more.

themultitap4467d ago (Edited 4467d ago )

I play Dota2 way more than I'd like to admit. And I think the creeps there have more thought behind them. They win games on regular basis and some heroes greatly affect their performance.

In Titanfall, I feel their effect is much less than that. If I am going to play with AI, let them truly turn the tide more often. My thoughts anyway.

HaMM4R4467d ago

The problem is that this isnt a MOBA. I don't mind having bots, but I want them to atleast be a little bit of a challenge, rather than just complete cannon fodder. I actually want to feel like ive accomplished something when I kill something rather than 'oh, there goes another one -_-'

Grave4467d ago

The problem with the bots is that they are so dumb they spoil the immersion of the game. Ever time I see one staring blank-faced at me and not shooting I remember that I'm playing a video game and that this AI is really bad. It destroys the experience.

Gazondaily4467d ago

1) Smart Pistol: I've not had a problem with this. I tend to get killed by the assault rifle more. The Smart pistol takes a while to lock on and the way skirmishes start, the moment you spot someone, yo fire. It's only really effective if the enemy is in close to medium(ish) range and if you catch the enemy unawares

2)"So why the low player count, tight maps, and filler minions? I don’t know, Respawn said so and you take it as gospel."

Tight maps? The two maps are really well designed and I don't see the player count as a problem at all. Every game I play is action packed and it has nothing really to do with the minions.

How many times have you heard, "warning, your are outnumbered 2 to 1" or 3 to 1 etc. Titan gameplay now requires skill and it shouldnt become a complete cluster****.

3) "It Is Not Next Gen"

Well it is available on current gen consoles how is it purporting to be next-gen? What did it win those awards for? Visuals? The gameplay footage at E3 last year made it clear that it wasn't visually impressive. We already knew that. The author clearly did not.

themultitap4467d ago

Your opinions are yours and you're entitled to them. The only thing I'd say is that Microsoft and Respawn both sold this as the next big next gen title. In some ways it is, and in others its not. I feel overall, it isn't. And it doesn't have to be.

Dumb_username4467d ago

I play Titanfall for the Graphics said no one ever.
Everything you see in the Trailers is what you expect and get.

Sayai jin4467d ago

@septic- I agree. You make good points, especially the fact that it was widely known that the graphics were not going to knock your socks off.

To the site/author, while this not a pure flamebait article it appears you are looking for teh hits. I know others who have good and bad things to say about Titanfall. I for one like the beta overall, but have left positive and negative feedback for Respawn,

ima_hustla_194467d ago

I dont think this guy even played the game. 4 AI kill's gets you 1 point? no, each kill gets a point and 4 points for real people. the maps are well designed and fun. the AI is a bit dumb(as in they stupid)but they keep you feeling like your always having fun. i think 8 vs 8 with a few less AI would be good or even 6 vs 6 with smarter AI who have weaker weapons.

themultitap4467d ago

Sorry I've never been good at math. Blame the video games. I just wanted to point out their worth. And I don't have fun killing them because they are dumb. It is like pushing down the slow kid in school.

Retard4467d ago

You must have been a terrible bully.

infectedaztec4467d ago

I really like the smart pistol, but it definitely isn't a noob weapon. For it to be really effective you need to get the drop on your opponent. Also, if you get the drop on 3-4 opponents it can hit each of them with one bullet alerting them that they've been ambushed and giving them time to react. It does however offer something new to the FPS. I like running around with it, avoiding open areas, sneaking up on opponents.....it encourages a style of play.

I don't know about the low player count yet. I didn't seem to notice it last night when I played. Bots do act as cannon fodder, but its that cannon fodder that makes you always feel like you're on a streak. I'm not a bad FPS player, but I found myself smiling playing titanfall alot more than other FPS games.

Not Next Gen? Not sure what you consider next gen... graphically its actually better than I thought it would be- though I did set the bar low. Online was I really do think it is a step above past gen. Everything is fast and fluid....from the gameplay to the lobbys arranging a game.

Like it or not, its hard to deny that it offers a new FPS experience. There's no game its like, though obviously all FPSs share some traits.

I do like it, but I have to play it more to know if I love it

themultitap4467d ago

I think Titanfall is perfect for you. It is a very accessible FPS that focuses more on action than skill. That isn't to say you are not skillful or it requires none to play. Titanfall is very cosmetically pleasing. When the action is on, IT ON. And when its not and you're looking for a pilot... Zzz. Overall a fun, good game.

Retard4467d ago (Edited 4467d ago )

Hmm... Does make you think. Convincing enough to buy it for my laptop huh

When logic meets EA it generates anti-matter ..... so try not to apply it in any meaningful way. Entropy is what matters in there !!

The community warned them this would happen but nope they knew better they continued with the live service push the made the art style cartoonish and this is the result

It's always so bizarre when studios announce something super early in development under the suggestion of forming the game to player feedback, and then they push against all feedback heading straight for the cliff while everyone is warning them along the way

US Lawmakers Urge Review Of EA Sale

The Congressional Labor Caucus sent a letter to the FTC warning the debt-financed, largely PIF-owned deal could be bad news for workers

lol ya think? they're sending all that work to the cheaper labor market as soon as possible. and FYI, that labor market has exploded in the last 5-10 years. They have enough people to replace every single job. But honestly, EA is over filled with useless upper management as it is. You could probably trim 25% of their staff with no real loss in production. They aren't gamers, they're business execs. Just look at how many AI related jobs they're already starting to post. Its also hilarious that PIF owns Battle field 6

Wait,

The same congress that attacked Lina Khan when she fought the Microsoft Activision purchase.
The same congress that allowed Disney to buy 90% of Fox
The same congress that allowed Liv Golf to buy the PGA
The same congress that sits back while Paramount tries a hostile takeover despite losing the bid for Warner Bros.

NOW, the suddenly cares about doing what's "right" for works? Yeah, right.

EA now owned by The Saudis and Ubisoft to inevitably be owned by China. In hindsight, once EA and Ubisoft started having their financial woes, they should have pulled a Koei Tecmo/Bandai Namco by merging their operations into one.
