As a Gundam fan, the only DLC I'd approve of is them adding "Beam Sabers" to Titanfall

TomShoe4371d ago (Edited 4371d ago )

Welp, EA knows what to do. It's time to start milking!

I don't mind seeing DLC development prior to release so long as it's just concepts and brainstorming... but I disagree that resources like designers & programmers should be committed to it before the game itself is in stores.

Everybody should be on board making this game run as smoothly and beautifully as possible until release.

The only circumstance that committing these resources to DLC makes sense is if they have moved past their respective portion of development.

truefan14370d ago (Edited 4370d ago )

My goodness people on this site are pathetic, when is the last multiplayer heavy game without DLC. Did you people really doubt there wouldn't be DLC for this game. DLC is here to stay whether you like it or not, the funny thing is YOU DON'T HAVE TO BUY IT. I think I only bought the DLC once for COD and still enjoyed my experience.

TheGreatAndPowerful4370d ago

Wow what a shitty deal.

"The publisher does not expect to start having to share revenue with Respawn until some time in fiscal year 2015, which begins on April 1, 2014"

H0RSE4370d ago (Edited 4370d ago )

@Blachek

"I don't mind seeing DLC development prior to release so long as it's just concepts and brainstorming... but I disagree that resources like designers & programmers should be committed to it before the game itself is in stores."

- do you know how game design works? Not everyone is working on the game till the last second. Some of the dev team are all done doing what needs to be done, like the concept artists and the story writers, perhaps the sound team, etc. Instead of "sending these guys home," sort of speak, they are put to work on other projects. This is why DLC is typically being worked on before the main game has shipped. Just because the game isn't in stores yet, doesn't mean everyone on the team still has work to do on it.

UnHoly_One4370d ago (Edited 4370d ago )

@thegreatandpowerful

That's less than 3 weeks after launch.

I'm not sure why that's such a bad deal.

Spurg4371d ago

I sorry but EA isn't the only one that does that.

Goro4371d ago

I didn't say they were...

Muffins12234370d ago

#xYuzaz

Yet you said "typical Ea"...why not say something like "Im tired of companys doing stupid shit like this" instead of calling out one company.

Philoctetes4370d ago

Pretty much all shooters have map packs. EA deserves criticism for lots of things, but I don't think they should get grief for making completely standard DLC, now that the game is done.

Blachek4370d ago

I hope they recreate what they did with BF3 and refine it slightly.

I would never pay for a map-pack, but I would pay for more game modes, class options, and weapons... so long as they weren't a gimmick.

Goro4370d ago

Yes but other companies aren't stupid enough to reveal DLC is being developed 2 months before the game even releases. It's just asking for backlash.

GTgamer4370d ago (Edited 4370d ago )

Its not about the DLC its about how many times are they gonna be DLC, who wants to buy a game then realized they got 15 more DLC's to buy for stuff that should been in the final game looking at you BF3 I have never felt so segregated from my friends until I played COD and BF3.have you ever been invited to a game and got kicked because you dont have that map pack Sad days those were.

Muffins12234370d ago (Edited 4370d ago )

Typically every company....DLC is everywhere.Hell its better than being able to buy in game currency for online like you can in gta 5 yet your not being a little bitch about that and attacking rockstar for it,10x times worse than what ea did here.

#its been confirmed by EA that they wont have buyable in game currency for the game and not do the pathetic thing rockstar did....

CYCLEGAMER4371d ago

Wait, are these guys even don't with the game yet...lol???

Kenshin_BATT0USAI4371d ago

Well it's coming out early March, and it'll be Feb in 3 days. Certification takes about a month, so yeah, they should be done with the main game at this point.

CYCLEGAMER4371d ago

If they are done with the game then why are they putting out a beta??

Blachek4370d ago

Melman26

Because if certification takes a month, they would have approximately 30 days with their product in front of additional eyes. Giving them a month to produce a patch that can help with any balancing tweaks, pathing errors, level design flaws, and system glitches or exploits that testers encounter in that time.

Kenshin_BATT0USAI4370d ago

I don't get why I'm getting disagrees here. It does take a month usually for certification to be done. That is a fact.

Kenshin_BATT0USAI4371d ago

No idea why they're putting out the beta now. Either they're very confident or just stupid.
Probably just for stuff they can either hotfix or patch once the game is out. Day one patches are a bit of standard now.

Philoctetes4370d ago

It's not really a beta -- it's demo.

Queasy4371d ago

The headline is wrong on two accounts.

1) EA said "planning" DLC not "in development."
2) That is not the same headline as the article linked.

grassyknoll4370d ago

Beta basically means demo in this case.

Muffins12234370d ago (Edited 4370d ago )

Beta is meant to raise hype and maybe a little bit feedback on balancing out guns or something,it might take them a few minutes to do that idiot....

DanielGearSolid4371d ago

Wonder how much they'll charge...

famoussasjohn4370d ago

Probably the standard $14.99 for single map packs or get Premium for $49.99 and get all of them.

Saudi Arabia Will Own 93 Percent Of Battlefield 6 Publisher EA

When the dust settles on the $55 billion leveraged buyout of Electronic Arts, Saudi Arabia will be its only true owner, despite a “consortium” of investors being involved in the deal. Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund will control 93 percent of the company, according to filings with Brazil’s antitrust regulator.

blacktiger44d ago

Technically speaking, Saudi Arabia and TENCENT can buy the entire USA. ANf Democrat and Republican will not do crap!

Inverno44d ago

Letting foreign entities own half of American businesses is liberal and very progressive. So is bringing in all that talent from outside the States to replace the talentless and lazy American workers. And here I thought the Trump administration wanted to border is up but nope. We're supposed to worry bout them "radical Muslims" minding their own here and ignore China/Saudi/Israel taking over.

blacktiger44d ago

Another thing I hate hearing is "liberal and very progressive"
It's 2025 and that stuff is outdated. Everything and everyway is literally the same thing wheter it's progressive, conservativ. Because they all wants the same thing have, king unlimited oney buy everything including your house.

Now they making mainstream media news that it's AI Bubble justify to highjack the price of RAM.
Another excuse for inflation!

Tacoboto44d ago

"here I thought the Trump administration wanted to border is up but nope"

Lol, you actually bought what he was selling? Let's see this week alone...

Yesterday he pardoned an international drug lord, while allowing the murder of random fishermen on boats. Remember drain the swamp? He pardoned a Democratic Congressman jailed for bribery just today, nevermind that fraudulent drag queen republican that was kicked out of Congress and imprisoned for their fraud. It's so petty they're picking fights on social media with pop stars while using their music, and even using Franklin the damn Turtle to cartoonify their murders.

thorstein44d ago

You believed him!?!!

I've got some Trump $5000 bills for you, only half off.

43d ago
Inverno42d ago

People I do not use /s to point out my sarcasm. Should be obvious I don't believe anything coming out of Trump's mouth or any politicians mouth.

its quite ridiculous that they were able to do that. or even allowed to.

but saudis even have their grabby hands in nintendo stocks.

maximusprime_43d ago

Looking on the bright side, the games may be patched to remove any ideologies that are incompatible for the majority of the world.

S2Killinit43d ago

What do you mean? You want censorship in games?
