Indie Games = Smart Games?

OnlySP: It’s no secret that indie games are on the rise. Even developers who have been in the industry for several years are getting into the indie scene, but why? Indie games give developers a freedom that they don’t normally get on large budget AAA titles. It allows them to focus on making what they want instead of what the people want, which is ironically exactly what we, the people, want.

It takes skill to create games, so game developers are naturally smart people.

However, the term "smart games" gives off a holier than thou, hipster vibe that is unattractive. It would be honest to say that there are a lot of clever, thoughtful and creative indie games, a lot of fun arcade style ones, and a lot of dumb ideas too.
