It's generally agreed that the endings for video games tend to suck, for a number of reasons. Whether the developer has run out of time or money, or just doesn't care at all, it's often the case that you'll plow through hours and hours of gameplay to experience some variation on "Well done, you saved the world" and a credits screen.
However, it's a completely different kettle of fish for a game's introduction sequence. Here, it's up to the developers to really grab your attention and make you go 'wow', lest you get bored and go find another game to play. So while there are a lot of great intro sequences around, it's made it hard to cull them down into a list of ten (well okay, actually eleven) - but here are the picks of NZGamer compiled for your reading pleasure!

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.

Spiders: "We're going to cut straight to the chase so you're not left wondering: After a long period without clear answers, we have received confirmation that Spiders is being liquidated.
What does it mean? This means the company as a whole no longer exists. We'll cease our functions immediately. The planned DLC will release via Nacon, and then-- well, that's it.
We're sorry that it's come to this and would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years.
If you have any questions or run into issues with your games, please contact Nacon directly as we'll no longer be able to reply."
was hilarious.
But yes,not seeing an FF intro in there is definitely strange.
Well, you got to take it as it is,what can we do....sigh.
Half-life was awesome back in the day.
What about the Darkness? That was a pretty sweet intro speeding through traffic and stuff. I have to agree though that most game endings are a bit of a let down. Oh well... that won't stop me playing. :p Oh and lol about his mother not being impressed by Bioshock. When my mum saw me playing I was conserving ammo, so I was trying to kill a splicer with a wrench... it was gruesome and not very effective. She called the splicer innocent. :( Shame on her. Besides who wouldn't save their ammo when they were going off to kick big daddy but. Damn I miss big daddies... I'll have to play Bioshock again. :) My favourite moment was attacking a big daddy for the first time... they just look so slow and docile, lol I was very suprised.
