So the problem is with EA then? Eh, I think that's only partially true. EA is bad, and I do believe that they negatively impact their games, but this isn't all EA. There are many studios out there that have no problems making a competent, polished, working FPS in 2 years. Dice consistently releases games that feel like they're in alpha. They're always unfinished. I have a hard time believing that's solely the publishers fault.

It's no mystery this is EA's fault and they didn't release a properly finished game all year. All rushed and putting the devs under undue stress to hit ridiculous deadlines.

Battlefield 4 is a travesty of a release, which is a shame because when it works, it's awesome.

The Xbox record function has been great for this game! It allows me to show all the ballsh*t that happens! I.E firing a hole clip into some1s face and them not dieing.

So budgetary ?

I know EA doesn't like spending money on patching game bugs. Sometimes, if the game isn't popular enough EA will outright refuse to pay to find a fix like with the Crysis 2 grain bug, despite the devs acknowledging the problem.

Love when people use their personal experiences with problems, to justify the overall severity of them...

I've only had one issue, a crash to PS4s menu. Once.

EA funds the games.
EA decides when it releases and how they market it.

We have all seen what a quality DICE release looks like. Do we really think that they aren't a proper-enough developer to be able to release a stable game?
It's obvious where the issue lies and it's EA releasing what is an unfinished game.

Quick match rush still does not work on XB1. I either get no connection, or sent to team death match. This after and before the recent patch.

Problems I have on PS4 is rubber banding / lag and the game crash which happens about 1 in 15 matches, and I would still rather play it the way it is than Call It Doodie.

My friend and I have just had to learn to "cope" with all the issues in order for it to be "playable" for us, outside of the connection, lag, problems.

- Hit detection... having to lead on a target WALKING slowly ten feet in front of you (automatic weapons to boot, short range)?! Or shooting stationary targets in the brain multiple times and yeah, Nada...
- Animation/other LAG, people kill you EVERYTIME before the weapon or their character actually animates the weapon firing or pulling out a gun or even LOOKING in your direction
- Attempting to pick up "map weapons" gets you into that drop/pickup/drop loop unless you perform a stupid "fix" maneuver to bypass it
- And I forget whatever stupid reason they had for changing getting in and out of vehicles to SQUARE... idiots
- Knife countering needs to be altered... I don't waste time on frontals obviously anymore, but it's just dumb what they've done with it
- Terrain traversal is not smooth at all for vehicles or infantry... much less so than Battlefield 3... get stuck on SOOOO much crap. Poor job there, all probably comes down to the rush job... lots of little visually "unfinished" places in maps, see through the terrain, objects not meeting up with the ground or other surfaces correctly.
- light machine gun "scope wiggle..." just, no
- Snipers need MUCH extended breath hold... starting to feel like freaking CALL OF DUTY!
- map borders feel way too tight to the playable areas
- need to ditch the L1 R1 L2 R2 class/weapon set up system... X and Circle and D-Pad and add custom class load-outs for Christ sake!
- List goes on...

I mentioned this in another thread about publishers messing with the developers while creating their masterpieces. I got a few disagrees like this stuff never happens. They are JUST the publisher...

Sad to see Dice having deal with the pressures of EA breathing down their neck all the time. Unfortunately I had to recommend to friends to pick up COD Ghosts because BF4 is just broken.

In my opinion BF4 > COD when it works... I got high hopes for BF5. >8-Þ

I'm sure the "problem" is EA. They probably made DICE rush this game out.

My game was broken metaphorically speaking at first...then I broke it for real..

I gave up on this game after the nov 13 (15?) update and decided I would wait to play it again after a month or two. I had to sell my GPU a week or two ago and am getting a new one sometime this week. I hope the problems are not too bad when I try it again because I have yet to get my $60 worth.

I posted this under another article but I'm posting make people aware of the possibility of getting a refund.
I just called EA again about 20 minutes ago. There was nothing they could do for a refund because they didn't sell me the game. But they did tell me that I can send them my physical copy and they would send me an unopened copy so that it would be easier to return it to GameStop.

I called Microsoft immediately after hanging up with EA. I told them that I was upset with Microsoft because they had told me in another conversation that they could not refund the game or the premium membership:

1. Because it was a digital copy.
2. That I would still have the license for the game even after the refund.
3. EA made a statement that they are the sole reason for the game being broken, so they have no obligation to refund anything.
4. EA makes the game, they received my money even though I bought it through the Xbox Store. Xbox doesn't make a profit from digital third party games sold through their store.

The representative from Microsoft, that I spoke with today, was very polite and professional. He said "Here's what I can do for you today. I can refund you the money for Battlefield 4 and you can keep your premium membership for when you decide to purchase Battlefield 4 later on. " I asked if I could get a refund for the premium as well and he said yes. "

I now have $119.24 on my Microsoft account. I also no longer have the license for Battlefield 4. I tried to play Battlefield 4 after I hung up with them and it asks if I am the owner of this game. When I view the game in the store, it no longer says installed but buy $59.99 instead. So, they can return digital purchases after all.

I want my money back too, Hartsy. The first month I had to press a button quickly just to even get into a match without the game cutting off with an error number. I had to reinstall it 10 times.

If someone brings a class action lawsuit against these guys I am in on this. This game was NOT ready at all. I give it a 2 out of 10.

I have the PC and PS4 versions, and both have noticeable problems. The graphics of the PS4 version look quite nice, and the game runs pretty smooth most of the time for me. However, I get weird crashes in the campaign of all things, and there are still some issues with multiplayer. I can't believe there isn't a better way to play with friends. I might not end up on the same team, let along same squad.

My experiences with the PC version are primarily related to the microstutter, and I'm just going to put this version on hold for now until Nvidia/ DICE get this fixed. I had to do the same with Tomb Raider, which I recently came back to and completed, as it was a trainwreck at launch. Runs pretty smooth now, even with the "next gen hair" (LOL). It would be nice if they finished the damn game before charging what they do.

It has to be more to do with the servers themselves and/or the individuals internet connection. If it was purely game code then shouldn't everyone get the same problems?? I for one have had very little issues. I have had it error out to the menu twice but that is only when pushing the home button, and the rubber banding/micro stutter is much better since the last patch. It was only a minor annoyance in the first place. In my opinion I think your internet speed plays a lot into these MP games and if you are at the bare minimum there are bound to be issues. I mean how can hit detection be accurate if your connection is slow? no way around for that.

Honestly, that is a lame cop-out.

There are problems with the game, and the devt and publisher together are accountable to fix them. If it was so bad for Dice they could just go independent from EA and find another publisher...

I have had very few issues with BF4 on PS4. I've been kicked randomly once or twice. But online issues are minimal.

They really need to address the broken water physics (you seem to spend more time underwater than on it in big swells) and the few times in SP you are on the water it handles perfectly so what gives.

Also some minor hit detection issues in MP but all in all I think it's about a buggy as BF3 was at the same point in its life cycle.

As long as they are hard at work tweaking and improving then I'm satisfied.

My biggest issue is that which I had with BF3 too. DLC should be included as part of the original cost of purchase. Paying another $70AU for premium is major BS. It basically makes BF a $170AU game because honestly your missing out on a lot if you don't purchase the DLC's.

Eww unpolished game rushed by EA.. Very depressing for DICE, they are in pressure right now..

I think I might re-download BF3 from PS+. I didn't know the multiplayer was this bad on BF4.

Its not a Developer issue... It's a publisher issue. EA is forcing out a lot of games broken and unfinished, to meet budget, regardless of the impact on comsumers.

Give BF a few more months, and stop trying to beat out COD for release. BF has a lot more going on, not just in terms of environments, but overall gameplay. DICE are first class developers, and they need TIME to perfect this game.

The sad thing is that its a great game.. until is crashes and you need to hard reboot, losing all your stats. This is platform wide!!

Anyone with Rovio does not have my respect. All they did was copy castle crash games.

I actually believe this is true. I know I am one of few who experienced this, but Burnout Paradise would freeze every time I accessed my friends list. It doesn't matter which PS3 in my house (I had 3 at the time) no matter what it would always freeze. Other accounts could play on the PS3's no problem but since I didn't feel like making a new account and re-adding all my friends, I sadly missed out on one of the funnest racing games of all time.

Later down the line I got Red Alert 3 on PS3 and was loving it, doing co-op and skirmishes with a really good friend of mine when suddenly it began to freeze almost non-stop every time I ran the game. I sold it for 45 bucks and the person who bought it never had this problem but my friend who I was playing with started to get the problems too and eventually was also unable to play.

No patch came out to cause these problems, and like I said I don't think they were widespread, but when former DICE employee says BF4's problems with freezing and crashing are more related to EA than DICE I am not surprised and feel like she/he may be telling the truth.

I hope they fix BF4 soon because it's incredible.

I'm very disappointed with BF4 on the PS4. I've played the campaign on the hardest level and I felt like it was set on normal.

For everyone that hasn't had the hit detection issues, you're the lucky ones. I've had friends go back to BF3 because of all the craziness.

I see another six months of issues and I base this on how long its taking them to fix it or not fix it.

Welp... That sucks. I played the heck out of BF3, but when BF4 came out, I honestly haven't been playing the game. There's too many bugs on Conquest Large, and that is really the only gamemode I play on.

I hope DICE could get their act together and address and work on fixing the issues. Once they do that, I'll think about playing again. One thing that annoys me though, if they had all these issues that they knew about, why didn't they delay the game until they created a stable build? It seems like some game companies are getting to comfortable releasing an un-polished game.

I've been playing battlefield since their first one came out (1942). It's safe to say I've logged hundreds of hours playing these games. I enjoy the gameplay and the dynamics behind the game. But it seems these last couple BF games have been pushed out too early, and should AT LEAST have a good solid 2 to 3 years before releasing another. Create more game content, fix the known bugs, provide more beta testing when needed, and for God sakes, release more maps instead of nickel and dimming us on DLCs...

This stuff really is overblown. I can understand the server crashing complaints, but hit box detection? I have had no trouble with hit box detection.

Consider that maybe you are just missing the target?

After issues playing BF3 on PC I skipped BF4 for that reason, and thought of getting it for PS4 in hopes it's be more stable as platforms can be VS PC. But from the sounds of things I'll continue to hold off.
