Sony's PlayStation 3 (PS3), due this month, will not ship with Linux pre-installed, as suggested in March by CEO Ken Kuturagi. However, TerraSoft CEO Kai Staats says his company's Yellow Dog Linux is installable by "anybody who knows how to use a keyboard, mouse, and browser," according to an interview in the Coloradoan.
Both Kuturagi and Staats have said that when running Linux, the PS3 has limitless potential to serve as a home computer, as well as a gaming device, DVD player, and digital media server. Staats told the Coloradoan, "This is not an application-limited appliance. This is a full-blown computer. There is no issue of 'can it do this or that?' It can do everything."

Square Enix launches Final Fantasy X 25th anniversary site, revealing new Nomura art, books, music releases, and merchandise.
Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.
Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.
More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.
Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.
All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
So, obviously Linux is not required to play games on the PS3. If I don't install linux on one of the computers I have laying arround in my house; why would I install it on the PS3 in my living room? Unless ofcourse I can run most of My PC games on it. now can it?
can it install windows? lol that would be funny..
...sorry Sony, but without an OS, it's NOT a PC.
"This is a full-blown computer" How can this be true if it does not allow you to install every available OS?
Imagine you can install windows vista and play Halo2 or even better run Live Anywhere? So, if the PS3 is "This is a full-blown computer" and does not let me install any OS on it; what would my PC be? SUPER DUPPER FULL BLOWN COMPUTER? This does not add anything to gamers, let me run windows on it; so I can run games like Battle Field, etc... oh wait... no DirectX support.... most PC games are writen and therefore require DirectX to run. Ok, no thanks I will keep my NOT so full-blown computer.
