Any controller-based gameplay would compromise experience on 'Fighter Within'

One of the most exciting things about Microsoft's upcoming Xbox One is its updated Kinect, which comes with every console. The Fighter Within, a launch title from Ubisoft, has been developed from the ground up to take advantage of this improved hardware.

Examiner asked Aymeric Evennou, International Product Manager, during a recent interview whether handicapped players, or those who simply don't want to use the Kinect, would be able to play using an Xbox One controller.

Wiggling around, jumping and punching air like a fool will compromise your dignity.

XboxFun4565d ago

Said no one ever.

I love it that doing activities such as punching, jumping and anything that moves a body part (CARDIO) is considered foolish or will compromise your dignity.

Especially when it's done from the comfort and privacy of your own home.

I didn't say that doing those activities would compromise your dignity. I said that this would compromise your dignity: http://abload.de/img/waggle...

If the game was accurate and actually let me put my boxing skills to good use then yeah, I would be all for it. But alas, there's a high probability that I'd get beaten by someone having an epileptic it as they get attacked by a swarm of killer bees.

I saw gameplay videos, and how it works, and in my opinion this game is for 13 year olds...its not realistic and its a bunch of kinect mini games and stance combos to do moves.

Not worth a retail launch and not work 60$

12 fighters 10 locations...

What? You don't swing around on pillars and perform ridiculously overplayed combo moves? And you say you have skills...pfft.

@edonus
This isn't a new genre of motion fighters. It's actually a squeal to Fighters Uncaged for the original Kinect. That was a pretty crappy game, just like this looks to be.

Otherwise, I actually do agree that the games for Kinect do need better "dynamics" to become anything more than they are now. Doing a demonstration video that looks like it's direct from the Shake Weight South park episode doesn't really sell me on the idea though.

On a more off topic note edonus:
Kinect will have great examples of motion gaming in it's lifetime. There is no change that not a single developer will utilize it well.

That being said, don't defend the crap software just to validate the hardware, because that makes it so developers don't have to push that boundary. It really is OK to criticize something that you like. I do it all the time.

i dont have much faith in ubisoft kinect games.

Baka-akaB4565d ago

More like givin' it pad controls would put it in direct competition with regular fighting games , or even sports fighting such as UFC/WWE/Fight Night ... or even casual anime stuff (Naruto ... dbz) .

In wich cases Fighter Within would always loose .

if you are trying to make a kinect game for gamers

I can't sit here and act like I know these workers financial situations. And I'm sure nobody wakes up WANTING to go to court. But for the sake of the industry, I wish some of these types of cases made it to trial.

Settlements allow companies to continue to do whatever abusive practices they do. While the trials (should the company lose) would actually force real changes for the better.

But again, I'm not in these workers shoes and I can understand them not wanting to risk it.
