Microsoft Patents Wii Remote Killer Game Controller

"They are finally able to talk more about what we know after a patent application for a gyroscopic-based input device by Microsoft has been published on the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office

"They were told that the motion sensing controller that Microsoft was researching had the functionality of both the Nintendo Wii Remote and the Nunchuk packed into a single device

"As you can see, they were very surprised when they saw Sony's patent as it looked similar to the Microsoft controller revealed to them. They couldn't tell you about the Microsoft controller at that time, but they could certainly report Sony's invention." writes César A. Berardini from IGN's teamxbox.com

it looks pretty cool i didnt think they would be able 2 pull off a 1 handed controller.

Mainman6612d ago (Edited 6612d ago )

the second picture: fig. 05.

Looks alot like a controller that Sony patented a year ago.

Edit: Oops, should have read it better, that was the Sony patent. They just put it there for comparison.

MicroDeath SoftStar6612d ago

looks kinda like it and im sure its gonna suck just like all other motion sensing controllers .
PS if you think the Wii motions sensing doesn't suck then you honestly dont own a Wii

JsonHenry6612d ago

I own a Wii, and I don't think the motion sensing sucks. Some of the GAMES suck, but the controller itself works very well.

MicroDeath SoftStar6612d ago

very well for what it is , it still doesn't compare to having 2 thumb sticks

Looks like that Ben Heck 1 handed controller REMIX lol

Bandwagon hopping this late would be a waste of time and resources.

Like Trophies?

IMHO more power to MS for expanding their repertoire

DG6612d ago

Who said this was even for a games console...its a concept. I would love one for PC. Im a music producer and the mouse is the main tool asides from a keyboard. Going back and forth is a pain in the arse. This would mean I can play the keyboard and do editing at the same time. Hope this concept is realized even if its not for gaming.

Iamback6612d ago

WTF?! I svare to God this same pictures were used for alleged PS2 "wimote" controller, that was rumored last year!
Search old news and you will see it. 100% same.

RealTimeWeaponChange6612d ago

That's because it is the same picture, you dumbass. Read the article next time.

Real gamer 4 life6612d ago (Edited 6612d ago )

i cant belive that they are actually going to jump on the bandwagon this late. BIG MISTAKE! lol Sony saw success in the wii mote that is why right away they made the sixaxis.

InMyOpinion6612d ago

"Gaming’s Biggest Fighting Franchise"

Press X to (seriously) doubt.

DarXyde34d ago

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

Soy34d ago

And then MK1 killed it again.

15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
