What is killing the game for me is that it has zero identity. It looks like a bland, classic MMO with no charm at all. They're just relying on the TES brand. And this outrageous $15 fee definitely achieves to ruin the game even more. I'll pass this one. Not that I like MMOs, but this one had a real potential. EverQuest Next looks 100 times more interesting.

JackStraw4570d ago

this is all that needs to be said really.

HammadTheBeast4570d ago

Exactly.

Another case of the Star Wars Old Republic MMO, EXACT same things repeating, and look how that's turned out.

Console gamers dont play MMOs in the millions anyway so it doesnt matter what they think. If it fails on PC its a failure put console sales dont amount to anything.

thekhurg4570d ago

I play MMOs and I'm primarily a console gamer. I'm not, however, going to pay a subscription fee for a MMO that's being billed mostly as a single player experience with small elements of group activity sprinkled in.

Guild Wars 2 provides all that for free.
Rift provides all that for free.
WoW provides everything plus a community vastly larger in size for a subscription fee.

papashango4570d ago

Guild Wars 2, Rift, Star Wars, they are all WOW clones to begin with.

It plays like Skyrim. which was its own game with the combat system somewhat lacking.

FFXI was successful, FF14 will be sub only and server traffic is through the roof. FF14 looks to be SE's first major success with gamers in years.

The fact that MMO are more widely known to be PC cetric, meaning the overall control scheme is more targeted toward PC's, will be a serious blow in and of itself! Even if it were mouse and keyboard compatible on consoles.

More than likely the PC will also have the upper hand on what's going on screen at any given time, physics based as well as visual fidelity. Most importantly having a $15 a month subscription just doesn't fit into the reasoning as to why console gamers buy a console over a gaming PC, and vice versa.

Zeroyosh4570d ago

from what I have seen so far, i'm not impressed, it is nowhere as impressive as skyrim in detail. and the very little i have seen of gameplay leaves a lot of room for improvement.

if they can manage to pull off that authentic feel of skyrim, with current gen graphics. I will be sold. but if it has shoddy gamplay, semi decent graphics then ..nope I wont touch it. from what I have seen thus far it looks like the latter. and as I said..not impressed.

I know it really sucks, I was looking forward to this game and now they are going to fuck us! This game had better come with a gift card to a fine restaurant, because I like to be wined and dined before I get fucked.

gaelic_laoch4570d ago

Bye bye Elder Scrolls it has been a blast but you can stay out of my wallet!

JBSleek4570d ago

I need to actually play it and see some solid gameplay.

If they have a very comprehensive PVP mode after the endgame and can keep me interested I'll pay $15 a month up until I likely get tired of it.

I really don't like making judgments on MMO before I play and know the depth of it.

ABeastNamedTariq4570d ago

I think it did. I used to be curious about it, but now I don't even care. Not getting it until it goes F2P. There are just toooo many good games coming out to devote a good portion of my money to this. Then paying 25% of the original cost of the game every subsequent month? No thanks.

bumnut4570d ago

I refuse to pay a monthly subscription for any game. I treat myself to a premium account on World Of Tanks occasionally but that is optional and the game is free!

"We all have strong opinions within the studio" – Microsoft

Microsoft are telling the world that the sooner we all switch to using generative AI tools in our day-to-day lives, the sooner we will 10x ourselves. Yet the corporation are still only finding haphazard pick up by videogame developers, including some of their own studios.

Good, I hate the Idea of these corporations trying to put people out of work. I honestly think we need to all start speaking up on the issue before things start getting bad.

Reaper22_35d ago

I agree but we also need to do that with other corporations. Not just in gaming. But I also fell that its inevitable because its all about the bottom line which is the almighty dollar.

Abnor_Mal35d ago (Edited 35d ago )

What happens when people are out of jobs because of AI and robots being capable of doing the work of a human in less time and with out breaks. How will the corporations make money when the ordinary man is jobless and cashless unable to buy what the corporations are selling. How will it affect the corporations bottom line when they themselves put the working force out of work.

Trying to type fast before my phone resets.

rlow135d ago

well if we all feel its inevitable then it will be. I agree its just not about gaming, but its a good place to start.
