EA’s Humble Origin Bundle breaks $2.1 million

"In a move that’ll make many PC gamers do a double take, EA has partnered with the people at Humble Bundle to unleash the “Humble Origin Bundle.”

For just $1 or more, you can acquire Origin keys for Dead Space, Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box, Crysis 2 Maximum Edition, Mirror’s Edge, Dead Space 3 and Medal of Honor. Being extra generous and paying above the average also nets you Battlefield 3 and The Sims 3 + Starter Pack.

Now before you click out of this tab after reading “Origin,” know that Dead Space, Burnout Paradise, Crysis 2, Medal of Honor and Mirror’s Edge all have Steam keys as well. Dead Space 3, Battlefield 3 and The Sims 3 have to be tied to Origin." - Patrick Kulikowski

I nearly didn't get it due to Origin... But now I can say that if I want to try Origin out, I now own BF3, DS3 and S3 on it!

The Great Melon4660d ago (Edited 4660d ago )

Fortunately, most come with Steam keys. It's only Battlefield 3, Dead Space 3, and the Sims 3 that don't have steam keys.

AlexanderNevermind4659d ago (Edited 4659d ago )

Yeah I was a little worried about Origin myself but my daughter was begging for Sims 3 so this was a no brainer for me. Gonna Try Dead Space 1 and & 3 later tonight.

starchild4660d ago

This is an incredible deal. Even though I already own several of the games, I went ahead and bought it anyway simply because it's too good to pass up and it goes towards charity. Dang, I love PC gaming.

theEx1Le4660d ago

Me too, gave most of my duplicates away already. Really Is a good bundle.

AnotherProGamer4660d ago

Origin isn't bad like people make it out to be. I use it have no problems with it

GentlemenRUs4659d ago

It's not the software but the EULA they have.

It allows them to snoop on your PC...

AnotherProGamer4659d ago

uh no that was made-up and people kept saying it like it was fact

it would be illegal to to that

GentlemenRUs4659d ago (Edited 4659d ago )

Wrong, It clearly states in the EULA:

"2. Consent to Collection and Use of Data.

You agree that EA may collect, use, store and transmit technical and related information that identifies your computer (including the Internet Protocol Address), operating system, Application usage (including but not limited to successful installation and/or removal), software, software usage and peripheral hardware, that may be gathered periodically to facilitate the provision of software updates, dynamically served content, product support and other services to you, including online services. EA may also use this information combined with personal information for marketing purposes and to improve our products and services. We may also share that data with our third party service providers in a form that does not personally identify you. IF YOU DO NOT WANT EA TO COLLECT, USE, STORE, TRANSMIT OR DISPLAY THE DATA DESCRIBED IN THIS SECTION, PLEASE DO NOT INSTALL OR USE THE APPLICATION. This and all other data provided to EA and/or collected by EA in connection with your installation and use of this Application is collected, used, stored and transmitted in accordance with EA’s Privacy Policy located at www.ea.com. To the extent that anything in this section conflicts with the terms of EA’s Privacy Policy, the terms of the Privacy Policy shall control."

Am I the only one which reads the EULA out there?

limewax4660d ago

Yes but is this not a bit of a middle finger to the Indies straight from EA? For me it just feels like they're stepping on toes and trying to use the Humbe Bundle to promote Origin since it's failing to catch up with Steam

theEx1Le4660d ago

Thats a really cynical way of looking at it. Another would to say they are better than all the indies, as they aren't taking any money at all with all the proceeds going to charity.

Blackdeath_6634660d ago (Edited 4660d ago )

totally worth it
edit: it at 3mill now and all money goes to charity including all the ea and origin money

iamnsuperman4660d ago

Thanks for the heads up. Even though I don't have a good PC it is worth getting these games cheaply for the future

plmkoh4660d ago

$1 for Dead Space 3 coop is totally worth it.

When logic meets EA it generates anti-matter ..... so try not to apply it in any meaningful way. Entropy is what matters in there !!

badz14969d ago

cue the apologist saying that these are mostly just contractors hired for this specific project bla bla bla

The community warned them this would happen but nope they knew better they continued with the live service push the made the art style cartoonish and this is the result

isarai_lee81d ago

It's always so bizarre when studios announce something super early in development under the suggestion of forming the game to player feedback, and then they push against all feedback heading straight for the cliff while everyone is warning them along the way

US Lawmakers Urge Review Of EA Sale

The Congressional Labor Caucus sent a letter to the FTC warning the debt-financed, largely PIF-owned deal could be bad news for workers

lol ya think? they're sending all that work to the cheaper labor market as soon as possible. and FYI, that labor market has exploded in the last 5-10 years. They have enough people to replace every single job. But honestly, EA is over filled with useless upper management as it is. You could probably trim 25% of their staff with no real loss in production. They aren't gamers, they're business execs. Just look at how many AI related jobs they're already starting to post. Its also hilarious that PIF owns Battle field 6

lodossrage115d ago (Edited 115d ago )

Wait,

The same congress that attacked Lina Khan when she fought the Microsoft Activision purchase.
The same congress that allowed Disney to buy 90% of Fox
The same congress that allowed Liv Golf to buy the PGA
The same congress that sits back while Paramount tries a hostile takeover despite losing the bid for Warner Bros.

NOW, the suddenly cares about doing what's "right" for works? Yeah, right.

thorstein115d ago

No. There were elections and some of the scum were replaced.

TheColbertinator115d ago

Different elections. Different scum. Same results.

i know its a long shot, but i hope this gets shot down.

EA now owned by The Saudis and Ubisoft to inevitably be owned by China. In hindsight, once EA and Ubisoft started having their financial woes, they should have pulled a Koei Tecmo/Bandai Namco by merging their operations into one.
