One Shot: Remembering Operation Flashpoint

Operation Flashpoint is the kind of game where you can’t walk in an open field. You will get shot. From miles away. And you will die from one well-placed bullet. It’s that kind of game. A rarity, but thankfully with the likes of its successor the ARMA franchise, still alive and kicking.

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, was an extremely well done game. Really nice to be able to walk kilometers in-game, just to get to the next objective. The feeling of not knowing where enemy patrols are at while you do it, add to the immersion as well.

I'm hoping they make another, red river was a massive improvement from dragon rising so I'm guessing a third game would be bloody brilliant...

I have insane memories of this game...love/haye for sure. I played with 2 other friends and on one of the final missions, I died just before it ended and it disnt count. Yeah, if it weren't for a glitch I would have had to do it all over by myself on hard.

I've yet to play the last two Operation Flashpoints. I know they've got mixed reviews, but I'm sure I'll enjoy them for the simple fact that they'll adhere to the basic ingredients of what made the franchise exciting: walking miles to your destination and getting killed by one lucky bullet!

Unfortunately I haven't played the Arma series, I'm more of a console guy now, and my Macbook probably can't handle anything juicy.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing26d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit26d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing26d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9226d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
