The mean part of me can't help but take joy in Microsoft's failures of late. Their arrogance and lack of thought towards their paying customers is staggering, a wake up call is just what was ordered to get them back to working for us, the gamers.

I just don't understand where Microsoft is coming from.

Unless they have some absolutely fantastic E3 conference, I don't see what they hope to achieve. There is a lot of things that need clearing up and sorted Fact from Fiction and I don't see how sitting in the dark about it is going to help.

Can't say I'm surprised. Sony's going to have 4 days worth of constant coverage, so you know they're bringing their A-game.

This may be in reason, remember what happened at the reveal? Due to interviews with employees loads of different answers were given out about the Xbox One real and fake (due to rumours and fanboy negativity).
Microsoft can't risk anything this so this time around I imagine at their press conference they are going to sort everything out right away and say everything in the open.
From specs to DRM and to used games.

So they are actually hiding from the rumors about DRM, always Kinect, Always Online, or paid subscription for the console itself, block used games, pay a fee for playing on a friends console?

I have actually have many questions about the new Xbox One, more is never a good thing in my eyes.

Now they are doing everything they can to control this. So if the console comes out 15.november (just a random date), we as costumers dont know a thing about the console itself, we bying a console without knowing the truth about it.

It just keeps getting worse.

They dont want to answer the two main burning questions a lot of people wants answered

(1) Whats with the 24 Hour DRM thing
(2) What way does the used game fee work

They just made things look worse for themselves by doing this.

Maybe next E3 they'll answer these questions /s

We have all doomed things in the past or projected things to be dead on arrival, but this is actually the very first time that something truly is doomed prior to release.

I just think they're behind schedule. Sony revealed first because they heard from developers that Microsoft were struggling to get their software up and ready, then 3 months later Microsoft had a reveal with no gameplay footage. No policies seem to be in place and nobody is able to comment on anything to do with the system. I think that Microsoft would like to release their console next year, when its ready, but of course they can't because it will give too much of an advantage to Sony.

I think that the crisis they're in is down to missing their targets.

When Sony asked developers what they wanted from a console, they said UNIFIED MEMORY above all else. They didn't want an eSRAM solution as it was a pain to develop for. Let's just hope they have some gameplay footage at E3 at least, otherwise expect to wait until 2014 for the launch.

The facts at this moment are that several people who had a one on one meeting scheduled have had them cancelled. This is what we know (its not a random tweet at all). If you have some information that we are not privy to, please spill the beans, otherwise we can either speculate on what we've heard or wait for Microsoft to shed some light on the matter (which seems a pretty slim prospect at this juncture).

So at this point I see 2 possible scenarios.

1) they are on SO much damage control and will try you rework the system to correct Some of the concerns. (not likely)

2) They are going to dip their heads in the sand, not say anything, and let people find out for themselves what the Xbox One will do at launch. This is the only way to protect for the Non-Gamer/Casual sale, as at this point they are the ones that know the least and still the most likely to buy.

Microsoft wouldn't be in this mess if the staff didn't give out completely different story's after the reveal. They don't want further talk about it until it's definitive and they never have to say another word. Damage control by definition, the employees that went talking about really put them in a bad position. If nobody said anything after the reveal we'd still be doing harmless guess work.

Wow things get worse and worse with Microsoft.. are they scared of our reactions to the Xbox One and all the flak its been getting after their failed press conference? I'm still shocked that pre orders are selling out fast! People wake up and listen... this system will breach your human rights as a consumer and a gamer. Vote with your wallet and don't get the system unless you really want to be out of pocket. Don't be surprised if you pay the price for internet with its always on connection, DRM checks for used games, mandatory game installs from Blu-ray disks, Xbox Gold, external HDD's, and cable subscriptions and almost a 100% lower performance than PS4 after news was leaked from reputable sources that say its getting down clocked because of all the heat issues its getting with its contradictory parts.

They are cancelling loads of interviews and pre E3 meetings which is not a good sign at all. The Xbox One has become a PR nightmare since they announced the name and plans for this console.

Lol, so what they just gonna show up, do their dog and pony show while not uttering a word in regards to what they hope to be a big seller this fall then soon as E3 is done they gonna pack up their shit and run out the back like theyre effin Bruce Springsteen ? Earlier this month, Petraeus mused about the emergence of an “Internet of Things” — that is, wired devices — at a summit for In-Q-Tel, the CIA’s venture capital firm. “‘Transformational’ is an overused word, but I do believe it properly applies to these technologies,” Petraeus enthused, “particularly to their effect on clandestine tradecraft.”

All those new online devices are a treasure trove of data if you’re a “person of interest” to the spy community. Once upon a time, spies had to place a bug in your chandelier to hear your conversation. With the rise of the “smart home,” you’d be sending tagged, geolocated data that a spy agency can intercept in real time when you use the lighting app on your phone to adjust your living room’s ambiance.

“Items of interest will be located, identified, monitored, and remotely controlled through technologies such as radio-frequency identification, sensor networks, tiny embedded servers, and energy harvesters — all connected to the next-generation internet using abundant, low-cost, and high-power computing,” Petraeus said, “the latter now going to cloud computing, in many areas greater and greater supercomputing, and, ultimately, heading to quantum computing.”

Petraeus allowed that these household spy devices “change our notions of secrecy” and prompt a rethink of “our notions of identity and secrecy.” All of which is true — if convenient for a CIA director.

Me being a major 360 fan and really wanting the X1 MS is making it easy for me to just turn my back on them. I buy my games new and my 360 has never been offline so those things don't bother me. What does bother me is how sneaky MS is being. Not giving straight answers or denying interviews to avoid hard questions. If MS can turn away a loyal 360 fan such as myself then MS has lost the race before it even begins...

This is probably best for them, MS is not the best with their PR as they have proved to us lately. With the pandemonium that is E3, its probably better they are able to make more uniformed, informative, and precise statements. Give them a week or so after E3, and then have the interviews.

No one needs the shitstorm that they produce weeks ago. It surely helps sony though, but sometimes it makes me wonder though. I am for both companies honestly, but I find myself hitting the Xbox One tab on N4G more frequently only because of the controversy. This monstrosity they worked up at the reveal got everyone thinking and feeling the worst. Then today they come back and say, its not really as bad as you thought.

This means that for weeks now you have been doing nothing but think about the xbox -good or bad. They have embedded the product into your psyche at this point, and if they produce at E3, maybe some of the people leaning on the fence my head over their way because thats all they have been thinking about for weeks.

We all just look for an excuse to lean one way or another. Albeit brand-loyalty or moral standard, we all want to be right.

I'm happy that they don't want to talk to us and we don't want to buy their shitty surveillance box.

Anyway moving on who's going to win the next gen of CONSOLES, Sony or Nintendo?

I was one of the people giving MS the benefit of the doubt, but after yesterday's announcement. I'm done. The Sony PS4 is looking really good now.

After the bombshell that has just been dropped about the used game restrictions and obviously use for the Xbox One to spy on you, invade your privacy, data mine you and then sell that data....well I'd say don't just stop at canceling interviews, just cancel the whole machine, because no one with half a brain is going to let this intrusive piece of crap into their living room willingly.

It's time the tail stopped wagging the dog.

And that goes DOUBLE for you SONY and every other consumer electronics manufacturer that wants to violate the rights and privacy of its consumers.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.

Is this like the 10th quarter in a row they're down 33% on hardware how is that even mathematically possible. You would think their mediocrity would Plateau

Could? Strange how prices rise for virtually everything we buy, yet when things settle down, prices don't come down. This has been happening in the UK probably before I was born. With that, how much is a next gen console going to cost? Look at the price of the PlayStation 5 Pro, which has been a flop for Sony. On that note, we don't need the next consoles for another 5 years.

I guarantee if people just stopped buying this kinda stuff all together. This would all be sorted within 2 weeks and everything would be back to normal.

We seen the exact same thing through the COVID period. Companies just jumped on the bandwagon realising that they can get away with charging far more under false pretences and fear mongering.

Consumers now have this fear of "you know what, I only live once. I'm going to spend all this money I earned through my hard work" Or "I only live once I'm going to take a loan out and enjoy my time here".

Silicone Valley spends literally billions of dollars researching how much they can push society to the limits to increase spending. You can research it yourself. There's published written documentation about it. Have a look for yourself into their group research into subscription programs to see how evil they are and why it's such a giant focus of current civilization. Its the very essence of corporate capitalism.

Just delay all new consoles. I could easily go another 5 years with my base PS5.
