EA backtracks on 'not producing games for Wii U' statement

Having previously gone on record saying EA had no games in development for the Wii U, the publisher has indicated this may not be strictly true.

i'm sure the star wars agreement is what changed their minds. disney probably wouldn't agree to a deal without every system, or device included. unlike most ea games, star wars games sale very well on nintendo consoles. disney knows kids buy star wars and parents buy kids nintendo. makes pure sense.

LOL_WUT4751d ago

It wasn't up to Disney it was due to the fact that the Wii U couldn't handle the Frostbite 3 engine. I still don't see how this is backtracking? The Frostbite 3 engine is going to be used lot's of their games... ;)

Expect for the part where EA said they had a new frostbite engine working on the Wiiu.
>_>
They said they were working on a new BattleField game for the Wiiu, and it will use the new Frostbite Engine when the Wiiu was announced.

After Nintendo told no to EA about Origins, all of the sudden the Wiiu is weak and Frostbite no longer works for the Wiiu.

Sure EA, sure....

LiberatedAnimal4751d ago

Except the fact that Frostbite 3 can be scaled to work on IOS. EA just lied to try and discredit Nintendo. Then people started talking about how they were deving games for WiiU with CryEngine3 and other new engines and all the sudden, "Oh yeah Frostbite can run on WiiU and we are making games for it." EA's so phony it's not even funny. Don't believe everything you hear and read on the internet. ;)

They would be dumb not to put sports games on Wii U. There isn't much competition on the Wii U for sports games so they would own that portion of the market for that console.

jagstatboy4751d ago

Who cares, EA should stop producing games for all systems.

Thanks to Microsoft's disastrous conference.

When logic meets EA it generates anti-matter ..... so try not to apply it in any meaningful way. Entropy is what matters in there !!

The community warned them this would happen but nope they knew better they continued with the live service push the made the art style cartoonish and this is the result

isarai_lee99d ago

It's always so bizarre when studios announce something super early in development under the suggestion of forming the game to player feedback, and then they push against all feedback heading straight for the cliff while everyone is warning them along the way

US Lawmakers Urge Review Of EA Sale

The Congressional Labor Caucus sent a letter to the FTC warning the debt-financed, largely PIF-owned deal could be bad news for workers

lol ya think? they're sending all that work to the cheaper labor market as soon as possible. and FYI, that labor market has exploded in the last 5-10 years. They have enough people to replace every single job. But honestly, EA is over filled with useless upper management as it is. You could probably trim 25% of their staff with no real loss in production. They aren't gamers, they're business execs. Just look at how many AI related jobs they're already starting to post. Its also hilarious that PIF owns Battle field 6

Wait,

The same congress that attacked Lina Khan when she fought the Microsoft Activision purchase.
The same congress that allowed Disney to buy 90% of Fox
The same congress that allowed Liv Golf to buy the PGA
The same congress that sits back while Paramount tries a hostile takeover despite losing the bid for Warner Bros.

NOW, the suddenly cares about doing what's "right" for works? Yeah, right.

No. There were elections and some of the scum were replaced.

Different elections. Different scum. Same results.

i know its a long shot, but i hope this gets shot down.

EA now owned by The Saudis and Ubisoft to inevitably be owned by China. In hindsight, once EA and Ubisoft started having their financial woes, they should have pulled a Koei Tecmo/Bandai Namco by merging their operations into one.
