I wonder if the PS4 will have a built-in coin slot?

Sev4849d ago

If it's this kind of coinslot I'm okay with it.

Then pachinko would catch on here too! IN YOUR OWN HOME JAPANESE PACHINKO ADDICTS!!

brish4849d ago

... in unrelated news. EA game sales continue to fall.

I_LOVE_MYSELF4849d ago

Whilst I am not over the moon about the idea I can tolerate micro transactions as long as they don't become borderline necessary. I don't want to see games built around micro transactions (unless it is f2p).

They always start small at first...

Which is why I am worried, drizzom :-(

This is pure greed for EA to do with full priced retail software

Bimkoblerutso4849d ago (Edited 4849d ago )

They can say it won't affect the core game experience all they want.

They're crazy if they think we're going to believe that they aren't withholding content in order to monetize it for microtransactions. Plus like Sev said below me, at the very least you shouldn't have to deal with in-game advertising after you already bought the damn game.

I hate to sound like an old fart, but Jesus Christ. I remember when games had a wealth of content to unlock after their campaigns.

Sev4849d ago

Ugh, I hate microtransactions. Not because they want to make money, but because I'm constantly being asked if I want to buy them. At least that's how it is in iOS games. If I'm playing a game, I don't want to be advertised to the entire time.

This is why I can't stand EA.

dbjj120884849d ago

They don't even make sense and really it's such a waste to buy the micro-transactions in Dead Space 3.

ftwrthtx4849d ago

This seems to be the way of the future. If it means more free-to-play games, I'm all for it.

classic2004849d ago (Edited 4849d ago )

No this means paying $60 for a game and then having t pay another $5 to buy some stuff in the world that would have been free.

Better weapon $5
Better boots $5
Access to the best cars $5

Ea got to be creating some outstanding games to be able to pull this off, free to play is a different story than micro transaction single player games.

Wenis4849d ago

It won't mean more free to play games. It will mean more $60 games with half the content cut out to be sold for another $30.

MagneticDeath24849d ago

Cosmetic purchases dont bother me but if a games pay to win it will.

Trago13374849d ago

And this is why i dont support EA. Unless they bring another Alice game, Mirrors edge, or Bad company 3, they aren't seeing my money.

When logic meets EA it generates anti-matter ..... so try not to apply it in any meaningful way. Entropy is what matters in there !!

cue the apologist saying that these are mostly just contractors hired for this specific project bla bla bla

The community warned them this would happen but nope they knew better they continued with the live service push the made the art style cartoonish and this is the result

isarai_lee100d ago

It's always so bizarre when studios announce something super early in development under the suggestion of forming the game to player feedback, and then they push against all feedback heading straight for the cliff while everyone is warning them along the way

US Lawmakers Urge Review Of EA Sale

The Congressional Labor Caucus sent a letter to the FTC warning the debt-financed, largely PIF-owned deal could be bad news for workers

lol ya think? they're sending all that work to the cheaper labor market as soon as possible. and FYI, that labor market has exploded in the last 5-10 years. They have enough people to replace every single job. But honestly, EA is over filled with useless upper management as it is. You could probably trim 25% of their staff with no real loss in production. They aren't gamers, they're business execs. Just look at how many AI related jobs they're already starting to post. Its also hilarious that PIF owns Battle field 6

Wait,

The same congress that attacked Lina Khan when she fought the Microsoft Activision purchase.
The same congress that allowed Disney to buy 90% of Fox
The same congress that allowed Liv Golf to buy the PGA
The same congress that sits back while Paramount tries a hostile takeover despite losing the bid for Warner Bros.

NOW, the suddenly cares about doing what's "right" for works? Yeah, right.

thorstein134d ago

No. There were elections and some of the scum were replaced.

TheColbertinator134d ago

Different elections. Different scum. Same results.

rlow1134d ago

i know its a long shot, but i hope this gets shot down.

EA now owned by The Saudis and Ubisoft to inevitably be owned by China. In hindsight, once EA and Ubisoft started having their financial woes, they should have pulled a Koei Tecmo/Bandai Namco by merging their operations into one.
