Mike Potts explains his fears associated with Dead Space 3, and how they aren't exactly what he was expecting, at Pixels or Death.

EA is laying off an unknown number of individuals from across its Battlefield teams, including workers at Criterion, Dice, Ripple Effect, and Motive Studios, IGN understands.
When logic meets EA it generates anti-matter ..... so try not to apply it in any meaningful way. Entropy is what matters in there !!
cue the apologist saying that these are mostly just contractors hired for this specific project bla bla bla

The free-to-play reboot topped 15 million players in under three weeks, but EA now claims it needs to reshape the development team.
The community warned them this would happen but nope they knew better they continued with the live service push the made the art style cartoonish and this is the result

The Congressional Labor Caucus sent a letter to the FTC warning the debt-financed, largely PIF-owned deal could be bad news for workers
lol ya think? they're sending all that work to the cheaper labor market as soon as possible. and FYI, that labor market has exploded in the last 5-10 years. They have enough people to replace every single job. But honestly, EA is over filled with useless upper management as it is. You could probably trim 25% of their staff with no real loss in production. They aren't gamers, they're business execs. Just look at how many AI related jobs they're already starting to post. Its also hilarious that PIF owns Battle field 6
Wait,
The same congress that attacked Lina Khan when she fought the Microsoft Activision purchase.
The same congress that allowed Disney to buy 90% of Fox
The same congress that allowed Liv Golf to buy the PGA
The same congress that sits back while Paramount tries a hostile takeover despite losing the bid for Warner Bros.
NOW, the suddenly cares about doing what's "right" for works? Yeah, right.
EA now owned by The Saudis and Ubisoft to inevitably be owned by China. In hindsight, once EA and Ubisoft started having their financial woes, they should have pulled a Koei Tecmo/Bandai Namco by merging their operations into one.
Not a bad read.
I am pretty much close to the end of Dead Space 3 and I have to admit I am a bit disappointed.
Now I know EA and Visceral Games put a lot of hard work and effort into developing the game and the game is still good. However, you can see that they have taken a sharp turn in the direction they want to take Dead Space.
On a positive note, Dead Space still looks great. The environments look spectacular and the overall atmosphere(yes even though it takes place on a snowy planet) is very well done. The story, if you are an avid Dead Space fan, is still very well done.
However.....Don't read on if you don't want to be disapponted, no spoilers will be listed.
The game heavily relies...and I mean HEAVILY relies on back tracking...even forth tracking in some cases...were you go back and forth, back and forth to get a mission done. The "dodge" really doesn't add anything to the game and really from what I have played is a useless feature. The scrap bot makes no sense other then to find crap and bring it to the workbench where you use the scraps to upgrade weapons or create items. It's pointless that you have to keep launching the scrap bot everytime you come away from the workbench.
There is ZERO horror in the game. ZERO. NADA, nothing. If being stuck in a small room with fast moving big creatures is scary then Visceral Games has lost sight completely as to what Survival Horror is. Dead Space 3 is nothing more then a Die Hard Movie. It's all action.
The number 3 seems to come up often as in go find these 3 items etc....
It seems that you can no longer carry 4 weapons but rather only 2 now and I can't STAND that weapon ammo is generic. There is no longer any specific ammo for specific weapons, all ammo drops will work for all weapons.
Audio wise, it sounds great but again, even though you hear some disturbing sounds, the soundtrack is no longer the slow dark tempo but replaced with a high beat action soundtrack.
All in all, it's a great game but far less superior then Dead Space 1 and 2.
Dead Space 1 was such a treat and I still think it is the best of the series. I just played DS1 before DS3 was released and there were a couple parts I had forgotten about and they still made me jump when I played through it again for the umpteenth time.
Dead Space 3's meta score IMO is about right. I wouldn't give this game anything higher then an 8.
This was actually way more poetic than I was expecting.
