Mass Effect 4 Is Likely To Take Effect

Gamemunition: Producers who think they can get away with creating a game that lacks a solid story line but mere good graphics and cute characters, it is time now for them to start betting on a race horse rather than on a pony.

Even after the letdown that was mass effect 3, I still have lots of faith that mass effect 4 will be great (if it takes place afterwards, none of that prequel crap)

DOMination-4868d ago

There are plenty of stories they could tell with a prequel like the rachni wars, first contact war but i see those more as spin off games maybe developed by a different studio. Honestly i would buy them if they released one off games around those events.

I would like to see a new trilogy for next gen though set after me3

dc14868d ago

A prequel is useless when considering the ME3 ending. .... we all know how it ends. Its the primary reason why the DLCs are disappointing. Of course, I'm commenting from a story-driven perspective.

DOMination-4867d ago

I don't understand why the stories I mentioned would have anything to do with the ending of ME3. They have nothing to do with it. Reapers are not even known about until 1500 years after the Rachni wares for instance so why would a game about that be bad because of the way ME3 ends?

I would like Bioware to make a new Mass Effect trilogy with each game taking two to three years to develop. Then in between that another studio to make one off games detailing events that have only been briefly touched upon in previous books and games, like the examples I already gave.

If you think ME3 was a letdown, you were never much of a fan of the series. Hard to argue with the combat, or the dialog. If folks want to bitch and moan about the ending, that's your opinion and you're entitled to it. But to suggest that a questionable original ending turns a game into garbage is risible. At least it would be if it were not so pathetic. I loved each game in that series for what they were. Each offered something unique and with each game the experience evolved but the core of what made the original great remained. And that is the characters and their stories and my Sheperd's interaction with them. ME3 is awesome and I look forward to the next game in the ME galaxy.

Well gee, I thought I was a Mass Effect fan because I bought all 3 games and most of the DLC for the first two, but how could I possibly argue with logic like "If you didn't like ME3 you aren't a TRUE fan"?

The ending didn't turn the game into garbage, most of the game was lackluster. Sidequests were the worst they'd ever been. Cerberus went from underground morally gray black ops to the Empire from Star Wars. All our choices just resulted in astract number values that don't affect the game except to meet a certain point threshold for an ending. Kai Leng and his amazing cutscene powers.

The ending's complete illogicality was the last straw for most people, but ME3 had started digging it's own grave long before that..

If you want an third person shooter game in space with some Black/White moral options and a few interesting characters, ME3 probably delivered. If you wanted a plot that made sense and writers who cared about following their own lore, you were left immensely disappointed.

You are a true fan! From a true fan!

Imalwaysright4868d ago

The reason why i played ME were the choices. I couldnt wait to see how the choices I made in 3 games would affect the ending and that was taken away from me the moment i was forced to choose an ending. The ending did ruined the whole trilogy to me because it rendered the main reason why i played ME useless.

You are a true fan as well!
Again, from a true fan!

Hope it turns out well. Had something more critical to say, but I'll leave it at that; no reason to add to the negativity of the internet, lol.

Mass Effect - N7 DAY 2025

Bioware writes: "Like you, we’ve heard the rumors lately. You’ve made it clear you care deeply about what’s next. So let’s start by setting the record straight: the next Mass Effect game is in development, and EA and BioWare remain committed to telling more stories in this universe."

I expected nothing and I'm still disappointed

Like with Fallout, it's starting to feel studios are using TV / Film adaptations when they have no game info to talk about.

toxic-inferno210d ago

I feel the same way.

I mean, how difficult would it be for them to release SOMETHING of substance? Another short trailer? A couple of proper hints? A short story set during the original trilogy, but focused on fringe characters?

Hopefully they're working so hard on the game that they don't have time. But still, with every passing year and so little to show, the franchise will be slipping further and further from people's minds.

Profchaos210d ago

Yeah agree it's almost a cop out since Dev times are 5 to 10 years just throw out a few seasons instead you get them done in a year

jznrpg210d ago

I still haven’t beat Andromeda. I am waiting for a lull of good games in my backlog

P_Bomb210d ago

So the TV show will take place after the OG trilogy. I wonder which ending they’ll use?

Rebel_Scum210d ago

Should’ve just posted a picture of an Elcor saying “regretfully, we have nothing to share.”

Good games but no Phantasy Star?

merlox1105d ago

Why do people forget Phantasy Star? That is one of my favorite RPG series. Another ther good but overlooked series is ,Y's.

ES3 set things off, it's a shame they got greedy and decided to cut corners so the executives could get huge pay days.
