Select PS3 users get Skyrim Dawnguard on PC

Most homes have a PC, but many gamers moved to console systems for their gaming fix years ago. Having said that, more and more people are now returning to the PC, a platform which is home to the best graphics available on any platform. With the uncertainty still looming in the air though regarding the PS3 Dawnguard DLC expansion, PS3 users are now starting to turn their back on the console, just to play Dawnguard on PC thanks to Bethesda’s frustrating delay tactics

It's sad Bethesda can't fix their broken game or get the dlc working on PS3..I really hope PS3 Skyrim owners let their voices be heard and demand better treatment from Bethesda.

shutUpAndTakeMyMoney4844d ago (Edited 4844d ago )

Even worse is black ops 2. It already sold 4.62 Million on ps3 first week. Tryarch basically got a free pass to make a crap port. again...

Is their any other form of entertainment that gets released broken?

is it just video games?

MaxXAttaxX4843d ago

Mostly video games on this generation.

Online and HDDs are both a blessing and a curse. Devs and publishers have little problem releasing games in these conditions because they know they can release patches later, especially for popular mainstream games like COD. Same with DLC and the lost notion of unlockable content.

@ shutUpAndTakeMyMoney

No; which is another reason why I don't classify games as art, either.

I am hesitant to say it, but it seems that a large number of PS3 owners tend to act weak-minded when they can't figure out the simplistic pattern of "critics" giving multiplats a free pass on PS3, especially if they have a history of bad ports for the PS3 (you think they could rate it lower if the frame-rate was bad or when things like this happen they would retroactively give the game a lower score); but when PS3 exclusives come out and are rates harshly by sites who have a history of giving PS3 games a bad score or some nobody site gives an exclusive game a very low score, these folks go scurrying into their holes until the next overrated broken game gets announced.

If everyone knows by now that certain devs can't get their crap together in regards to ports, why do the majority of PS3 owners go rushing with cash to the story every time those same non-competent devs release a game?

My goodness, it's the very same reason why you don't give kids the vote.

@pixelsword.

Nice troll post.

Better treatment... those employees had to work extra hard to try to satisfy angry gamers and at the end of the day they may have wasted resources. Do you think they want their game to not work just to treat gamers poorly?

ForgottenProphecy4843d ago

They are just money hungry, they don't care about the customers, as long as they are buying the game.

Nimblest-Assassin4843d ago (Edited 4843d ago )

If they cared so much they would have delayed the game so it works for PS3 gamers, or better yet not release it on PS3, so people can get it on PC or 360 instead of paying the same price as those people for a game that barely worked at launch, and now they say they can't give dlc

Essentially what this says is "oh you bought our game twice? Well if you luck enough to have your name pulled from this little bowl... you get dawngaurd for free!"

Yeah

Heres a riddle for you

How many f**ks did Bethesda give towards the PS3 version of Skyrim?

Answer:0

MaxXAttaxX4843d ago

The engine Skyrim runs on was clearly not designed with the PS3 in mind.

Oh_Yeah4843d ago (Edited 4843d ago )

Since they cant get dawngaurd working..why not just throw ps3 users the extra features it gives...like character editor, crossbows, dragon weapons, new armors, wolf level tree, etc...and while theyre at it throw in hearthfire too..either free or for a 5 dollar fee. Just implement a cutscene or something..explaining what happened, kinda like what bioware did with mass effect 2 for ps3 since it was missing 1...thatd be better than nothing..if they cant figure it out.

Anon19744843d ago (Edited 4843d ago )

Wait, how's Skyrim broken on the PS3? I've easily got 100 hours into my current game and I haven't had a single issue. What's broken about it? I heard there were some issues right out of the gate but didn't you just have to reboot every so often for awhile, and then it was patched within a couple of weeks after release? It's one of the best games I've played this gen..hands down.

MysticStrummer4843d ago (Edited 4843d ago )

If you keep playing you'll most likely run into some bugs eventually. I went to the midnight launch and didn't have problems for a long time, but ironically after one of the patches I started seeing bugs. Now I'm stuck as a werewolf because I can't finish the Companion quests, but I finished the main story and don't really care. I played about 150 hours on it before I got bored so I had my money's worth of fun. Pretty funny that this site equates buying the PC version to turning your back on the entire console. Gaming journalism has fallen a long way.

pr0digyZA4843d ago

Theres definitely something wrong with it, from framerate issues to bugs that have broken the game, why do you think the latest dlcs for the game haven't been released on PS3?

XB1_PS44843d ago

I agree, I wasn't happy to hear one of my favorite games didn't get developed properly on PS3. I don't think all of the blame should be on Bethesda though. When they were trying to fix everything, sony themselves were helping step by step. It was something that no one could fix. It wasn't developed from the ground up on a ps3, so they couldn't find what was wrong in the programming.

violents4843d ago

Its really stupid, I'm a ps3 owner and i did like skyrim, however I refuse to buy the pc version so I can play the DLC packs because that is just supporting bethesda and thier rediculous sales tactics. Why would you give more money to a company that has already screwed you over. Sold you a broken game, took what like 3 months to fix the major gamebreaking bugs, then screws you out of the dlc while PC and xbox owners get to enjoy it all. The only way they will hear our voices is too stop giving them money.

Boycott betheda until its fixed.

I wont even buy Dishonored just because they are the publisher.

We should not forget that the PS3 has no Skyrim DLC, it is a major disappointment and one that needs to keep in the news until it is sorted, don't let them hide this issue away.

bubblebeam4843d ago

Agreed. While I was a major fan of Bethesda, and while I can still admit Skyrim is an excellent game, I can't just forgive them for what they have done.

It shouldn't be an issue of "oh well, at least it isn't bad on my console", all gamers should question why Bethesda was able to get away wit this.

If I buy a TV and it doesn't work, I'm able to take it back. They would also get re-called. This highlights a major issue in gaming. There needs to be more quality control, and if a game doesn't meet the standards, it should be refused release until it is fixed.

I still haven't even played it yet, and I own a PS3 AND 360. I won't buy it until they fix it. Not saying I have higher morals than others or anything like that, it's just my beliefs.

violents4843d ago

preach on brother. The only way to fight them is to stop supporting them, because they obviously wont listen to people in forums. I've emailed bethesda on multiple occasions and never recieved an email in return. They don't care they got your money already.

tr00p3r4843d ago

Hopefully the PS4 isn't built in a way that developers can make excuses all the time.

League_of_Draven4843d ago

If it isn't then it will be shovelware overload.

Nightfallen4843d ago

You don't want my money Bethesda? I am willing to buy every piece of DLC!

Norrison4843d ago

I personally think someone who can afford a console and a high end PC should get both so he gets exclusives on console and multiplats on PC, especially games from bethesda, modders can transform a glitchy, average looking, experience into an unique experience with top notch graphics. Let's not forget the modded quests too which can offer up to 10 extra hours of gameplay.

tr00p3r4843d ago

Maybe PC owners are growing tired of Bethesda's waiting game though... I miss the Oblivion days personally - on a PC that is :)

That's ridiculous, lol. I'm waiting for the guy that says its too cpu-intensive for the Switch 2. This game is old af and has been released like 17 times.
