you will never get full BC unless you hunt down a 60GB NOW. You might...MIGHT be able to find one for the cost of the 80GB

For the price of a PS2 today, you might as well not really worry about it. I mean honestly the games library is getting big enough for the PS3 that if you want to play PS2, it wouldnt cost you much. Thats assuming that you dont have a PS2, which most people probably do.

I knew it, I TOLD YOU SO. It's so OBVIOUS, it shouldn't be impossible, if a PC can emulate extraneous PS2 and Gamecube architectures, surely PS3 can do that with PS2! given that they share similarities.

Backwards compatibility is within an ever closing window. As time goes on, the need for it and the usefulness of it (for the majority) becomes less and less. IMO BC should be included in all PS3 sku's until sometime after the ps2 is no longer being produced, this will make it easier for current ps2 owners to migrate to something new as they will feel their current collection is still 'useful'

That would cost you $529. A 60GB PS3 would have cost you $70 more, and for that you had 20GB of extra storage space, 2 extra USB ports, universal memory card slots, chrome trimming, and the fact that it's slick to have a single machine play all of your games instead of two.

In fact, you could have gotten it when it was $499, or even less when the 80GB was dropped to $499 (if you could find one at retail). So it was either cheaper when it was available, or a bit more expensive with a lot more value!

For spending $70 dollars a lot earlier than everyone, I got the most value for my money, and I don't have to worry about using different consoles or waiting for updates to get full BC.

I have a 40GB PS3 and I would LOVE for it to be BC with PS2 games. My PS2 is going to die soon and I don't want to leave my 45+ games lying around.

the price considering the cheaper one will have the full "deluxe package!" and they cant complain about it any more since there is nothing about to complain but I know there will be some people that will still do that but for the other system there is much too complain!.

What is with you people who have dozens of ancient PS2 games that you still play years later?! Move the hell on, we're in high-def now! How many times can you play final fantasy 10? I will never play a PS2 or original xbox game again! Its over! Its called progress!

I just started playing Vice City Stories again tonight on my PS3. (I have a 60 gig PS3)

The last save I had was from May 2007. I haven't completed the story yet. It was almost a year ago I played it last.

The only reason I stopped playing GTA: VCS is because of the new PS3 games I had to complete.

The only reason I even started playing GTA: VCS again is because I am really wanting to play GTA4 but can't because it isn't out yet.

My point is this:
GTA: VCS is the last PS2 game I will ever play.

So my questions are:
Do you plan on playing PS2 games on your PS3? (Check Agree)

Will you never play a PS2 game again because of all the great PS3 games to be released? (Check disagree)

anyway, i have a 60gig, and while i don't know why people would by the *NEW console to play the *OLD games, i have been playing a lot of PS2 games, because i'm trying to finish them all before the big PS3 games hit in the next few months and i stop playing the older games (when i got my PS2, the only PS1 game that i ever put in the disc slot was Castlevania: Symphony of the Night).

i'm currently playing Rogue Galaxy, GTA: San Andreas (which i'm trying to finish before GTAIV comes out; i know that once GTAIV hits, i'm *NEVER going back to San Andreas, and i *LIKE San Andreas), Final Fantasy XIII, and a few other PS2 titles i've picked up over the years and have yet to barely start, let alone finish.

BC is kind of nice to have during the first year of a consoles life, but after that, it's onto the new games.

the potential to download rare PS2 gems over the PSN, however, is a great reason to bring back BC; the companies get to re-introduce some of their forgotten titles to a new audience (ie, Beyond Good and Evil, Ico, and Psychonauts would probably fare *SOO much better as downloadable titles), and they get to make some extra dough).
