I can not speak for western rpgs because I usually avoid them. But for jrpgs I am personally attracted to a great turn based battle system. Followed by an epic story, and good music. The games that comes to mind would be Xenoblade Chronicles, Skies of Arcadia Legends, and Final Fantasy 7

You missed Persona 2, 3, and 4.

You're correct, Kaos- all one needs to do right now is look at and play Xenoblade Chronicles. It's sublime.

I am glad that someone understands!

I would like the game to be complex and require some thought when going into battles. I specially liked Dragon age origins in this regard. Specially the PC version since it was more of a tactical strategy oriented game.

I think RPGS should come with the option for modding, as that tremendously increases the lifespan of the game.

But seriously, even though most of these points are no-brainers, the problem with the list is that, for the most part, RPGs with an open-world often tend to not contain as tight and cohesive of a narrative(there are exceptions, of course).

"Open Game World

You wouldn’t just stick to one confined path. This creates so much more liveliness into game worlds because you go around and see the world as if it were actually living, which makes it that much more believable and immersive."

No it doesnt lol . Most times it only create forks where you meet lifeless npcs that barely acknowledge you and feed you pointless mmo style fetch quests .

It's of course not always the case , but with some dev "lazy" about such aspects or not having the tools and tech for it , there is no way that open worlds SHOULD be in every rpgs

* Good music

* Good Art style regardless of graphics power

* Fast / Quick Battles

* Main Character you actually like

^ It's weird how so many Dev's can get this so wrong.

they can't get a 14 year old game to run smoothly?

jjb1981158d ago

That's ridiculous, lol. I'm waiting for the guy that says its too cpu-intensive for the Switch 2. This game is old af and has been released like 17 times.
