POV? I'm going for 3rd person--not just because the original Fallouts were 3rd person, but largely because I like it better. I used to play Oblivion in 3rd (even though it's 3rd person is HORRIBLE and really hard to play with without mods). I feel like you get to know your character better--you get to really care what he looks like, what his personality is, etc. And combat is more like a movie, then.

The first two Fallout games, not including the spin-offs, are CRPGs. Fallout 3, however, will be more of an action game since that will help them sell more copies. (Many fans of the original Fallout games are upset about the direction this series is heading.)

As for the story, the west and east destroy themselves in a full nuclear war though both were prepared and had made huge and multiple underground vaults so humanity could take shelter in them. The war begins and world is destroyed. For many years, no one dares to leave the vaults.

Fallout 1 takes place in Vault 13 which is suffering water shortages thanks to malfunctional water producing chip. One man is chosen to leave the vault and venture into the wastelands, go to another vault and bring a back up waterchip back. But as soon as he leaves the vault, the main character realises that this is a new world and more of an abandoned hell. There've been many people who couldn't make it to the vaults and also, those that came out of their vaults earlier. A lot happens to him...

But in Fallout 2, a horroble secret is reaveled. The US goverment had stationed itself in a rig in the ocean and away from all the trouble. The secret is that the vaults were not supposed to be for good of mankind and protecting them. No... they were test labs for the goverments. With thousands of humans as test subjects. Different and unique psycological and medical tests were performed. One vault consisted of only one male in middle of hundreds of females. Another one is the opposite with all men with only one woman. In another vault mental gasses were released and in another, deseases. Vaults had become the sick playground of mad scientists.

It was more than ironic in some places. For example, in Fallout 2, player gets to one vault in a Vault City and finds hundreds and hundreds of Waterchip cargos while we know that lack of even 1 back up waterchip was killing people in Vault 13.

I am never to worried about how long or big a game is as long as after i finish the game i want to play again and even after that i still have interest not only on online but through the campaign again. Game play and story is what its all about for me. And it doesn't look like i will be disappointed.

Well, it may not be that big but it has indeed a huge amount of replay vaule. Having 11 different endings doesn't hurt either :)
