Sandbox games seem to be getting more popular among gamers. In one way it makes sense because gamers want to feel like they control the game and how their character plays through the world, but on the other it can make a game take longer to release. Not to mention some games really would not work as a sandbox game. So what exactly is a sandbox game?

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.
The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.
Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.
15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.
These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse

Sandbox emphasises a paradigm where, as in a physical sandbox, the user is entertained by his ability to do as they wish creatively and with there being no right way of playing the game.
I like sandbox games more than linear ones cause it tends to keep me more entertained except if the linear game is actually really good and i just love playing it over and over again but that's only for a few.
I just recently tried out "Terraria" for the first time, and I have to say; it is such an absolutely perfect example of what a sandbox game should be. I can see myself easily losing a couple hundred hours to it. That's why I like sandbox styled games. They generally offer much more content to occupy my time, which is definitely something I'm gunna want if I'm spending $60 of my hard earned money. (Granted I got Terraria from Steam for $5. Amazing deal, I might add)
I'm really looking forward to playing Watch Dogs. It will be nice to play an innovative take on a sandbox game.
