Cooper Lawrence admits she was wrong: Statement

Do not adjust your set, you really did read that Cooper Lawrence, the psychologist who appeared in Fox's unfair and unfounded slander against Mass Effect, has admitted that she "misspoke" about the game and has actually done the right thing in retracting her comments. Having now actually done what she should have done and watched the sex scenes in question, Lawrence has realized that the game was not the foul and degrading porno she told everyone it was:

"I recognize that I misspoke. I really regret saying that, and now that I've seen the game and seen the sex scenes it's kind of a joke.

Before the show I had asked somebody about what they had heard, and they had said it's like pornography. But it's not like pornography. I've seen episodes of Lost that are more sexually explicit."

This is actually incredibly pleasing news, to see someone who has enough of a spine to admit something like that, especially when it comes to videogames. While it does little to justify her going on air and defending a viewpoint she had no right claiming to hold, and doesn't make up for the disrespect she showed Geoff Keighley and the games industry, it is at least a respectable move and a sign that not everyone on "the other side of the fence" has to remain ignorant and offensive in the face of the truth.

your too late. For Gamers (like me), this was like the last straw, we had to take these matters into our own hands in order for your little brain to listen. unless you go out there and make more reserch about video games and play them and make a book about how the media is wrong about video games and how they steriotype them on how they promote violence towards children, then we can accept you again. But not today, what you just did in your show was hurt our beloved games, the games that we play and adore due to their story.

and it only took her a week and a half to realise how big of a mistake she made, you can literally see the scenes on youtube, and now shes trying to write it off as a little mistake

An expert indeed... :|

I expected nothing and I'm still disappointed

Like with Fallout, it's starting to feel studios are using TV / Film adaptations when they have no game info to talk about.

toxic-inferno224d ago

I feel the same way.

I mean, how difficult would it be for them to release SOMETHING of substance? Another short trailer? A couple of proper hints? A short story set during the original trilogy, but focused on fringe characters?

Hopefully they're working so hard on the game that they don't have time. But still, with every passing year and so little to show, the franchise will be slipping further and further from people's minds.

Profchaos224d ago

Yeah agree it's almost a cop out since Dev times are 5 to 10 years just throw out a few seasons instead you get them done in a year

jznrpg224d ago

I still haven’t beat Andromeda. I am waiting for a lull of good games in my backlog

P_Bomb224d ago

So the TV show will take place after the OG trilogy. I wonder which ending they’ll use?

Rebel_Scum224d ago

Should’ve just posted a picture of an Elcor saying “regretfully, we have nothing to share.”

Good games but no Phantasy Star?

merlox1119d ago

Why do people forget Phantasy Star? That is one of my favorite RPG series. Another ther good but overlooked series is ,Y's.

ES3 set things off, it's a shame they got greedy and decided to cut corners so the executives could get huge pay days.
