#Random looks at the Mass Effect series as a whole, sparked by the release of the Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut DLC. #Random explains the entire controversy surrounding the original ending of the game, and why this DLC was a necessary move by BioWare.

EA is laying off an unknown number of individuals from across its Battlefield teams, including workers at Criterion, Dice, Ripple Effect, and Motive Studios, IGN understands.
When logic meets EA it generates anti-matter ..... so try not to apply it in any meaningful way. Entropy is what matters in there !!
cue the apologist saying that these are mostly just contractors hired for this specific project bla bla bla

The free-to-play reboot topped 15 million players in under three weeks, but EA now claims it needs to reshape the development team.
The community warned them this would happen but nope they knew better they continued with the live service push the made the art style cartoonish and this is the result

The Congressional Labor Caucus sent a letter to the FTC warning the debt-financed, largely PIF-owned deal could be bad news for workers
lol ya think? they're sending all that work to the cheaper labor market as soon as possible. and FYI, that labor market has exploded in the last 5-10 years. They have enough people to replace every single job. But honestly, EA is over filled with useless upper management as it is. You could probably trim 25% of their staff with no real loss in production. They aren't gamers, they're business execs. Just look at how many AI related jobs they're already starting to post. Its also hilarious that PIF owns Battle field 6
Wait,
The same congress that attacked Lina Khan when she fought the Microsoft Activision purchase.
The same congress that allowed Disney to buy 90% of Fox
The same congress that allowed Liv Golf to buy the PGA
The same congress that sits back while Paramount tries a hostile takeover despite losing the bid for Warner Bros.
NOW, the suddenly cares about doing what's "right" for works? Yeah, right.
EA now owned by The Saudis and Ubisoft to inevitably be owned by China. In hindsight, once EA and Ubisoft started having their financial woes, they should have pulled a Koei Tecmo/Bandai Namco by merging their operations into one.
must not have played the third game then
Here's the issue...In ME1 you choose to save or kill the Rachni Queen. No matter what you choose either she or another Rachni Queen is in ME3 playing the same purpose.
In the ending of Mass Effect 2 you choose to either destroy or save the construct. No matter what you choose, TIM still gets a piece of it and uses either for a similar purpose.
In the ending of Mass Effect 2 you choose to either leave or stay working with TIM. No matter what you choose you're just against him in ME3.
At the ending of Mass Effect 3 no matter what choices you have made leading up to it have no real effect on the ending.
I also feel the gameplay was better in ME2, since 3 opted for a more frantic shooter style which didn't really suit the game.
The Mass Effect series has hands down been one of the best new franchises this generation, you could make an argument that EA buying them has hurt the series a bit, but overall the Mass Effect titles are heads and shoulders above most other game franchises that launched this generation.
I haven't gotten the chance to play the added ending content yet, but I did download it. I actually enjoyed the ending to ME3 and thought it was more about the journey than anything else, I liked the idea that I had to think a bit and come up with some of my own theories as to what happened.
Not only have games gotten easier lately, but we've gotten to the point that if it isn't a happy ending or just how we want it, we complain.
Between all three Mass Effect games I've sunk around 150+ hours into them, I'd say I'm extremely happy with my experience and I'd gladly buy the next game in the series.
Somehow the third game having a 'bad' ending suddenly makes the previous 2 games bad? Mass Effect 1 and 2 are amazing games, nothing can change that.
I won't get to play it until this weekend, but I'm... almost... looking forward to it? Most of the feedback from people who didn't reject the entire concept of the ending has been fairly positive. Like some others, I was alright with what happened but felt the need for more closure, and it sounds like you get that.
If you DIDN'T like the core concept of the ending, it's time to move on, guys. They TOLD you they weren't changing that much, just adding. In April. You've been missing some really good games while you were moaning on the internet the last couple months. Let's all go find something new to like, it'll be fun!
