... want Splinter Cell Stealth gameplay like the first 3/4 games.

Not a cover-action shooter.

These new games shouldn't have been released under the Splinter Cell brand, but should have just been a new original IP, in which case it would have been just fine.

We miss the quality stealth-gameplay from Chaos Theory, and we're disappointed that this once great series has dropped that in favour of generic cover-based gunplay!

Not sure who's in charge at Ubisoft and making all these crazy decisions the last few years, but he needs to be fired and replaced by someone who does have a clue.

i played the PS2 splinter cells. Loved it. And i'm slightly embarrassed to say, i kinda liked the last SC too. :P

MrGunny945092d ago

Exactly what the poster above said... Conviction.. was a good game i won't say it wasn't... but it wasn't a splinter Cell game it should have been a new IP to be honest...

I'm okay if they give action and stuff to those players who want it.. But please let the stealth be as it was in the last game.. but if they find it hard to balance they should just stick with Stealth

Splinter Cell Conviction and Ghost Recon Future soldier. That's all the argument I need.

Valenka5092d ago

I fail to understand why for some, the reasoning behind the hate on Blacklist isn't obvious. Splinter Cell, since 2002, is about stealth action and I use the term 'action' loosely considering the main focus was on stealth alone. Your overall goal was to complete the missions quietly and effectively, using silenced weapons, melee takedowns, gadgets, and spy tactics. Hardcore Splinter Cell fans want that, not modernised shooter-style action.

Since Conviction, Splinter Cell took a turn for the worst, in my opinion anyway. While I enjoyed it mildly, there was a horrid and disturbing absence of stealth elements, gadgets, and spy related tactics. The overall spy theme was out the window as well. The element of stealth was optional in a sense, and that's not what Splinter Cell is about.

It's disheartening to see such a brilliant game series surrender to the common action game, oversaturated with over-the-top action, cinematic combat, and an overuse of the cover system.

I need not even mention the lack of stealth games nowadays, and a lot of people are counting on Splinter Cell to be the stealth/spy fix for that, and thanks to Ubisoft, they're sorely disappointed.

So, to the author of this article over at play-mag.co.uk, that's the reasoning behind the hate, in the event that it isn't obvious to you.

It's such a shame that it's gone in this direction as there are so few real stealth games these days. Since SC is going in the direction it's in the only game I have to look forward to for stealth is Thief4 and that seems to be in trouble.

The future isn't looking good for stealth fans.

Because it's not an Xbox exclusive this time.

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell - A Decade in the Shadows

Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell has been out of action for a decade, so it's time to look back at 2013's Splinter Cell: Blacklist.

Sam Fisher is evidently the most skilled stealth operative because no-one has seen him in his own game for years

kevco331006d ago

10 years, in fact. He must be, like, 60 by now?

phoenixwing1006d ago (Edited 1006d ago )

why make an inspired game that takes effort when you can half ass it with multiplayer gaas games and filler filled assassins creed games?

That question up there is the reason you don't see splinter cell games

zarbor1006d ago

Yup, another example that Ubisoft has no idea what they are doing.

MIDGETonSTILTS171006d ago

The entire mark and execute system belonged in another game.

It’s cool, but the polar opposite to how Sam Fisher initially handled.

The original trilogy made shooting very, very difficult, yet a viable option, which ultimately motivates stealth.

The mark/execute system makes shooting stupid easy, to the point of why would you even bother trying stealth as an alternative?

FYouDad1006d ago

Because Ghost is the method fans of the series actually prefer? IMark and execute is never forced upon the player you liiterally never have to bother using it even once throughout Blacklist.

RNTody1006d ago

The sad part is that I actually really enjoyed the last game, Blacklist. It may have lacked the iconic voice but the gameplay was excellent, and blended stealth, action and a mix really great compared to most games, where none of the three options felt like the wrong way to play. I really hope they either produce a remake of the original game or a proper sequel.

Rikimaru-001006d ago

Isn't UBI Soft remaking splinter cell.

Sam Fisher Deserves Better

Alex S. from Link-Cable writes: "Ubisoft, we need to chat. Please, have a seat. Thanks. Ok, so I think you know why you’re here. No it has nothing to do with all those game delays, we’ll talk about that later. What? No it’s not about the Skulls & Bones and Beyond Good & Evil 2 falling off the face of the Earth, just listen. We need to talk about Splinter Cell. Don’t give me that look, you know this conversation needs to happen. The way you’ve treated the series, its fans and poor Sam Fisher himself is sad, infuriating and just plain disappointing and it needs to stop."

The Fish!!!

I'd love to see a remastered edition of those games as well as something new. It's about time.

UltraNova2246d ago

MGS is done, at least as we know it so it's now or never Ubi, give Fisher the reboot it deserves. And for Gods sake, don't you dare turn Splinter Cell into another Division/Ghost reckon online abomination instead of a SP focused steath action game!

Psychonaut852246d ago

You know they will though. This is Ubisoft we’re talking about

zachyBROosevelt2246d ago (Edited 2246d ago )

I would love a new splinter cell, maybe even a reboot at this point. Sam Fisher deserves it

Profchaos2246d ago

I think reboot the entire franchise the games were great but every time they try to make him human like a father or something it comes of as unbelievable

hiawa232246d ago

They added damn near every SC game to Xbox1X back compat enahnced list. That is a lot of Sam enhanced and I am loving it, but Sam deserves a new next gen game.
