EA Conference Wrap Up / Impressions

PushStartSelect: "I think the EA conference really introduced us back into what E3 is all about, games. I don’t think it was a perfect conference, but it was a pretty good one. They spent a lot of time on annual sports franchises, and even if you are a fan of them it has to seem kind of annoying at times to sit through yearly promises. Other than that, EA had some absolutely fantastic games to show off, and they showed them off well. They started off with Dead Space 3, a game that has been hinted at and is now official. What game could start a conference off better? It looked mind blowingly good, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. The only issue I have with it, and it is something we covered before, is the co-op. Dead Space is one of the last absolutely true survival horror games out there right now and the co-op is something that could hinder that approach. Will they handle it well? Or will it lose its edge and not be as scary thanks to a second character helping you?"

shooter, shooter, sports, shooter, shooter, sports, and simcity. Did I miss anything?

I was underwhelmed. I like the way they are pushing social integration into the gaming experience. More specifically I think the Autolog for NFS is incredible. I have full faith in Criterion to make this an amazing experience. Other than that I don't care about the sports games, I despise Battlefields approach to DLC and Medal of Honour just screams wreaks of mediocrity. I'm not the biggest Crysis fan either.

EA's show was bad. They even managed to make Dead Space look terrible. Too much action and not enough survival horror ..
3 FPS games .. THREE GODDAMN FIRST PERSON SHOOTERS.
2 sim games, one for ... facebook.

And the others are sports. I know EA is relying on sports but come on man, introduce them on regular days no one cares about news on FIFA or Madden. I was really hoping for some news about mirror's edge or possible mass effect-related game prequel or sequel dont care.
but nothing, total disappointment.

Three shooters.

I forgot about Dead Space. Looks like they really dropped the ball. Dead Planet of War Evil 3 more like.

I guess I am not the only one who thinks Dead Space 3 has jumped the shark. It looked like Lost Planet!??! No thanks. The first one was PERFECT (issues aside) for survival horror. Now it is a b level bad sci fi action romp.

Will someone PLEASE develop and release a REAL survival horror title please?

The EA event was boring because it lacked anything fresh

When logic meets EA it generates anti-matter ..... so try not to apply it in any meaningful way. Entropy is what matters in there !!

cue the apologist saying that these are mostly just contractors hired for this specific project bla bla bla

The community warned them this would happen but nope they knew better they continued with the live service push the made the art style cartoonish and this is the result

It's always so bizarre when studios announce something super early in development under the suggestion of forming the game to player feedback, and then they push against all feedback heading straight for the cliff while everyone is warning them along the way

US Lawmakers Urge Review Of EA Sale

The Congressional Labor Caucus sent a letter to the FTC warning the debt-financed, largely PIF-owned deal could be bad news for workers

lol ya think? they're sending all that work to the cheaper labor market as soon as possible. and FYI, that labor market has exploded in the last 5-10 years. They have enough people to replace every single job. But honestly, EA is over filled with useless upper management as it is. You could probably trim 25% of their staff with no real loss in production. They aren't gamers, they're business execs. Just look at how many AI related jobs they're already starting to post. Its also hilarious that PIF owns Battle field 6

Wait,

The same congress that attacked Lina Khan when she fought the Microsoft Activision purchase.
The same congress that allowed Disney to buy 90% of Fox
The same congress that allowed Liv Golf to buy the PGA
The same congress that sits back while Paramount tries a hostile takeover despite losing the bid for Warner Bros.

NOW, the suddenly cares about doing what's "right" for works? Yeah, right.

No. There were elections and some of the scum were replaced.

Different elections. Different scum. Same results.

i know its a long shot, but i hope this gets shot down.

EA now owned by The Saudis and Ubisoft to inevitably be owned by China. In hindsight, once EA and Ubisoft started having their financial woes, they should have pulled a Koei Tecmo/Bandai Namco by merging their operations into one.
