Well if you are going to charge for usage then lets do the same thing for the TV channels. I know everyone here probably does not watch 80% of the channels provided from their cable company. Lets get an 80% discount then, remember it is about usage and I don't want the channels that were forced on me in the package. Let me pick and choose my channels ....@$$es

DD to me would work if i pay "X" amount a month and get unlimited downloads. Otherwise, no thanks, i wanna be able to take movies over to friends, watch on different devices, and i dont want to wait for downlaods.

for those who keep their systems on all the time to stream from. I feel bad for those who would be affected by this but it might prompt them to be not only service conscience but also power conscience as well.

I use dsl from at&t and even though it is always on, my systems aren't so in that respect I wouldnt be charged for service provided there isnt any activity on the circuit.

If they want to make some real money off downloads they need to setup a download directory that contains hyperlinks to downloaded files all conveniently grouped by account holder name. Then they charge astronomical premiums for unlisted accounts based on the salaciousness of downloaded content. Skies the limit then boys, because no one wants to explain to their wife how they accidentally managed to download 429 gay pornos last month.

I work for Time Warner. I doubt this will catch on. Even so im employee discounted :).

It appears most people don't have to experience this when this was the normal practice. Back in '93 when I bought my first computer...a P100. Majority of all the internet providers had a base rate for so many hours spent online. If you exceeded that you would have to pay per hour. Trust me, you were getting no where fast with a 28.8k modem.

Someone above said they pay $45 for 6meg connection. I would love to have that price. Here in Guam for a stinking 3.5meg connection costs $69 dollars per month and that is on special. In March its going up to $99 per month.

DD wouldn't be a viable solution til at least the ps5 or xbox1080 era due to NA's infrastructure being woefully inadequate and a couple of other factors. Well, one of those "other factors" was actually made publicly known now. I, too, work for TWC and heard rumblings from higher-ups and trade mags about this possible trial. I'm just suprised they chose such a small test area. But a greedy company wanting bigger profits doesn't.
For those of you who have had TWC for a few years - you'll remember when we used Motorola modems instead of Toshiba ones (now we use Scientific Atlanta). We switched only because the Toshiba ones were cheaper AND could be capped. Why do you think the Turbo package was introduced last year for residential constumers? It was to get ppl to pay $10 bucks more for bandwith they originally had! Sure, it sucks but the worst is yet to come. If it's successful do you really think the whole industry wont adopt the new plan?

Why don't they make two monthly plan? One for casual users with limited usage with a low price. And one for us, the hardcore users at the current price.

The 7+ million customers here in Texas @ $50.00/month = $350,000,000,000. I say its about money. Multiply that for a whole year, and were talking big bucks. Thats just for internet, not including standard, and digital cable tv feeds.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
