With the dawn of new consoles just around the corner, I believe the age of the disc is about to end. Since its humble beginnings (sometime around the SEGA Saturn, I was too young) the disc has been the go-to guy for just about everything.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.
The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.
Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.
15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.
These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse

The big issue with his though is that its anti-competitive the prices are set at the will of the publisher and consumers are bled dry, you can see that happen when full games come on the stores at the moment.
It would effectively kill off the gaming with friends culture that I grew up in, taking a game around to your friends and having a blast just wouldn't happen, at best you would be at the mercy of downloading when you get there.
Yeah you say online play to that, its just not the same as being there in the room whooping your friends at your newest game.
At worst you wouldn't be allowed to do so at all due to restrictions.
As much space as my media can take I don't think I could do without it, its not about swag its about the fantastic feeling I got since I bought my first game about opening it up and seeing it play for the first time.
It sounds silly but, I still get that feeling with my old games. Recently playing my old sega and gameboy games just flooded all that back.
