5 Ways Videogames are Getting Worse

Bagogames: Well this is awkward. There seems to be another article about this specific topic already here, darn it. All the same, here is why the credibility of the videogame industry is circling the drain - in our opinion at least.

I came for the egg men...and the unicorn...

Kind of ironic given what's blazing up on the front page of N4G but I liked the trivia nod to Sega's wonder patent. (Read to learn more)

WriterWhelp5120d ago

The unicorn is obviously the best part of the whole thing.

Bagogames5120d ago

It's all downhill once you bring the unicorns into it.

Remember the old days when games we're usually £29.99? Or even £24.99?

Build me a time machine, I'm going back to when I could afford to be a gamer.

WriterWhelp5120d ago

Don't go back too far or they'll cost even more than they do today.

Ajoyshop5120d ago

They'd cost nothing because if you go back far enough video games don't exist lol.

Bagogames5120d ago

How do you think we got the Velociraptor Death Squads?

THESONYPS35119d ago

$60 is super cheap for a game if you were from Australia. Games usually are $89-$110 new though some may use the cheaper way: ozgameshop. I know our currency is different but that would only make it a few dollars different (bairly anything) but we get taxed on everything due to less population. Besides I dont think games are that expensive.

ShaunCameron5120d ago

I don't remember that time other than games costing $69.99 and up. That was the 8-bit era.

_Aarix_5119d ago

didnt chrono trigger cost 80-100 bucks back in the day too?

Venoxn4g5120d ago

He forgot: many games are becoming too easy (example: Enslaved, I really liked this game, BUT you can't even fall in it and it's a platformer! Like Prince of persia, what the hell?!?)

WriterWhelp5120d ago

That's a matter of taste. I tried to stay as objective as possible. It's true that we aren't really seeing a whole lot of new games on the level of the NES version of Ninja Gaiden, but then again, that's why we have difficulty settings. If a game doesn't have that, however... Then yes, it can easily become a snore-fest. But weren't easy games always around? Now we're just old enough that games that used to be challenging are suddenly piss-easy.

Rediculamal5120d ago (Edited 5120d ago )

Not all games but I see your point, a stroll in an unruly park isn't as nearly as exciting as getting lost in a dark, dangerous environment designed with the sheer intention to kill you (Demon's Souls).

Bagogames5120d ago

You couldn't even beat the second level of Max Payne 3 on easy without my damn help. Don't you start lecturing on challenging games.

manlypile5120d ago

I agree with your points, but especially the multiplayer one. I do not play multiplayer at all unless it's with my kids at home.

Ajoyshop5120d ago

A game is not a game to me unless it has a robust single-player. I'll only play multiplayer with friends. I honestly don't get it's appeal otherwise.

manlypile5120d ago

I also think that something killing the industry is something that no one will talk about so I'll just say it: We still haven't recieved a 'Golden Girls' video game. C'mon, man! All we want is to control Bea Arthur and Betty White as they shop for depends and rack up points in our boss battles with the nursing home staff!

Hicken5120d ago

Thank you, manlypile, for being a friend.

When logic meets EA it generates anti-matter ..... so try not to apply it in any meaningful way. Entropy is what matters in there !!

The community warned them this would happen but nope they knew better they continued with the live service push the made the art style cartoonish and this is the result

isarai_lee92d ago

It's always so bizarre when studios announce something super early in development under the suggestion of forming the game to player feedback, and then they push against all feedback heading straight for the cliff while everyone is warning them along the way
