User Review : Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Ups
  • Smash Bros Formula{Same style{Lots of stuff to use
Downs
  • Friend Codes{No DLC{Hard to find a Random Match

One of the best Wii games of 2008, this game delivers like a mailman on steroids. It is amazing.

Super Smash Bros. Melee was the best game on the GameCube. It was fun, hard to master, and a blast with friends. Now the Wii version is here with online mode. This is great as now the battle is online. Here is my review.

The game has dozens of modes. Single player, multiplayer, online, this game will set you back for years and years to come. The game is jam packed (over 122 blocks!!!) with content. There are 35 characters in the game (the best ones are unlockable) and can all be unlocked by beating the Subspace Emissary mode which is the Story Mode of the game. Unlike Melee, it actually has a story. The mode lasts 10-12 hours long and is really enjoyable with friends. The game has a stage editor, a online community (Smash Service) and downloads are sent through every day. The online is a blast to play. Unfortunantly it uses friend codes so trying to find a Random Match will be harder than trying to name the rocket launcher (33872) in Haze. Get your friend codes, phone numbers, and friends ready. Online is a blast to play with few lags and slow downs. Be ready to abandon your family, friends who don't have Wii's and loved ones away. You will be playing Brawl!!! If you are a hardcore gamer who owns a Wii and doesn't own this game, WTF!!!!

The game is a blast to play. There are hundreds of things to unlock and usually there are different ways to get stuff. There are hundreds of trophis (500s) hundreds of stickers (700) to get in the game. You will be stuck with this game trying to beat it for months and months and months and months. This game is the best Wii game out there so far.

The graphics are spectacular. Running at 60 frames per second, this is a great feature. The graphics have few blurry textures and are beautiful. This is the closest to Quantam3 we have gotten so far. The sound is classic Smash Bros and does its job. I have turned the game on just for the music at times. There are dozens of unlockable songs in the game. The game is amazing to play. Buy this now!!!!!!!!! It is the best until The Conduit comes out in March-May.

freaking destroy you as snake

But tell me, if I played and re-played Melee, why should I buy this one? Thanks

Maybe because of the new characters, new stages, and new gameplay. It's everything you loved about Melee and then some.

One con I say for Brawl is that many maps aren't stationary. Many move too much or too much happens.

But I hated Brawl. Every good character got nerfed significantly. Every character got a lot slower. Most advance techniques are now taken out. It makes SSB too casual for me, which became boring since I played Melee as a hardcore game.

Great game for casual players, bad game if you are expecting it to be like Melee with online.

Why the Wii is Such a Nostalgic System in 2026

The Wii is now a retro console. Let’s get nostalgic about an often maligned system.

Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.

My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.

Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.

Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.

To me smash brows Melee is my all time favorite. I can't tell you how many hours I played that game between friends and family. When I was a kid, my parents couldn't afford a gaming console so I had to go somewhere that had an arcade like setup with the only difference being instead of arcade cabinets, they had big screen crt TV's and gaming consoles setup. I would go with my friends on special occasions after school or with my family on the weekends.

I would meet and make new friends at that place as we were all gamers and we also brought our game boys and would trade pokemon. I don't think those places exist these days but back then, it was easy to meet like-minded people and have fun for hours.

Well, I’ll add my extremely subjective ranking too. I won’t include the 3DS version as I don’t owned it. I did play it for a few minutes though.

5. Brawl.
4. N64 Smash
3. Ultimate
2. Wiiu Smash
1. Melee
