“Is DokeV real?” We sat down with a developer at Pearl Abyss who agreed to speak with us about the game’s long silence, the team’s ambitions, and whether fans should still believe in DokeV.

Pearl Abyss has announced that its Pokemon-inspired game, DokeV, has been delayed until 2024.
Wow. Considering how great and polished the game looked way back when it was revealed, that's quite the wait. I mean, if they need the time then they need it. I still can't believe it'll look that good on release honestly lol.
Disappointing, because it’s my most anticipated game in recent years, and what they’ve already shown looked absolutely amazing and VERY ambitious, but if they feel they need the time to deliver the game they want, then good.
I do hope they’ll do a cool new presentation soon, cause we haven’t heard or seen anything new about DokeV for far too long,
IGN : South Korean game developer Pearl Abyss spoke about its new game engine powering visually-stunning games like DokeV and Crimson Desert.
Unreal is a great engine but it's boring if everyone uses it. From the trailer this engine brings a huge amount of capability. I think Dokev will be a huge hit. Looks like there is an amazing variety to the gameplay mechanics which is exactly what is needed in any big open world game to keep it fresh and interesting for the duration of a long game.
Dokev is true next gen graphics imo, not just resolution and framerates dumped into old games.

DokeV was one of the most bewildering but also fascinating announcements from Gamescom 2021. From Pearl Abyss, the team behind medieval games such as Black Desert and Crimson Desert, DokeV was a very sharp turn into a contemporary setting for a studio that has only build medieval landscapes before. Now, we have learned a little bit about why the studio decided to build a modern urban playground, instead of their third large countryside landscape.
Speaking in the latest edition of Play magazine, Pearl Abyss founder Kim Dae-il, says the studio has been “working on medieval fantasy games for a long time, but we wanted to try creating a unique experience with DokeV”.
The announcement (actually, there was already a trailer out for the game back in 2019) looked absolutely amazing, so good that many doubt it’s in-game footage, and the city they showed looks gorgeous and lots of fun to traverse around. The prospect of a SP ‘Pokemon’ type of game in that world is very exciting.
This game looks dope as hell. Very excited to try it out on PS5 with Dualsense support.
I'm a big fan of Black Desert, and the last Crimson Desert gameplay demo I saw was epic. I believe it came out a few days ago? Its almost 30 minutes and well worth the watch.
So I will give PA the benefit of the doubt.
That was excessive. And kind of painful. I get wanting to get some clarity on things, but badgering what sounds to be a developer - as opposed to some higher up who is actually calling the shots - feels like the very definition of "misplaced frustration".
I don't see how anyone could see being *that* adversarial as a way to get anything other than even more silence. Hopefully the fact it yielded nothing will make those at The Gamers Lounge opt not to try that again if somehow such an opportunity presents itself in the future.
I hope it appears again. Looked so fun.
Looking forward to this game.
btw this a "opinion" article, not a real interview. Waste of a read honestly.
At the end of the article"This article is a work of fiction. The Gamer's Lounge, the author, nor anyone at Pearl Abyss and associated partners has any affiliation with what was said within. This piece is for entertainment purposes only."
The game looked way too good when it was shown off. No wonder why they'll take long lol.
