The Nintendo Switch 2 was the best-selling console worldwide with 1,765,356 units sold for March 2026, according to VGChartz estimates. The Switch 2 has sold 18.93 million units lifetime.
The PlayStation 5 was the second best-selling console, with an estimated 1,043,314 units sold, to bring lifetime sales to 92.08 million units.
The Nintendo Switch 1 was the third best-selling console, with an estimated 217,621 units sold, to bring lifetime sales to 154.38 million units.
The Xbox Series X|S came in fourth place with 140,798 units sold, to bring its lifetime sales to 34.57 million units.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.
The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.
Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.
15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.
These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse

Even if the estimates are a little off, Xbox is doing incredibly bad in comparison. They really should become 3rd party. They’ve done about the same numbers every generation but the 360. I just don’t understand the logic behind people thinking it’ll ever be different at this point. How many times can you have the worst record in the league before you stop thinking you’ll be the number one team next season?
Going to be interesting to see how these numbers stack up to the real thing. VGChartz estimates are wrong more often than not.
Having said that, we are now on the S2 bandwagon because the kids liked and wanted Pokopia. That has been their most played game lately, finally loosening the hold that MK8D and AC: NH had on them.
Since we got Pokopia, neither of the girls played Animal Crossing or Mario Kart on the OG Switch. I guess that console is finally mine. And they have constant shouting matches over Pokopia. We may have to get another S2 and copy of the game, since the game share on the S1 only lets you have limited control in the first zone of Pokopia.
PS5 will easily reach 100mil units sold as soon as Wolverine and GTA6 drop these holidays.
Meanwhile... The once called ''The most powerful console in the universe'' won't even get close to the xbone numbers.
