Kojima’s latest is easily one of the prettiest titles currently out on PC.

Death Stranding 2: On the Beach was one of 2025's best games and a much-improved sequel to 2019's Death Stranding. Nixxes PC port is outstanding.

According to SteamDB, Death Stranding 2 had a peak concurrent user (CCU) count of 55,444 in the first 24 hours after it launched on Steam on March 19, with conservative estimates of sales at around 300,000 at the time of writing. This is a higher peak launch CCU than both Death Stranding and Death Stranding: Director’s Cut combined. Death Stranding 2 also has a higher all-time peak CCU than any other Sony single-player sequel released on PC, beating out major PlayStation sequels like God of War: Ragnarok, Horizon: Forbidden West, and Spider-Man 2.
that headline seems wrong to me. best PC launch for a PlayStation Studios game? ghost of tsushima opened at 78K concurrent players.
"Best PC Launch for a Single-player PlayStation-First Game Sony single-player sequel" Thats a lot of qualifiers. Too the point I think the author created their own catagory for DS2. Also they then refeerence Death Startnding launch CCU...but fails to tell the audience that Death Starnding is not published by PlayStation on PC. It was done by 505 games.
Did anyone from Sony actually confirm or deny the rumors about their stance on PC ports? I am still trying to find an actual quote.
That’s a seriously impressive PC debut, especially for a sequel that leans heavily on atmosphere and unconventional gameplay. Hitting over 55K CCU in the first day shows not just hype, but real demand from PC players who may have skipped the console release. It also says a lot about how much trust people have in Hideo Kojima’s vision—his games tend to be niche, yet they keep breaking into the mainstream.
What stands out most is outperforming heavy hitters like God of War Ragnarök and Horizon Forbidden West, which are traditionally more accessible. It suggests the audience for Death Stranding has grown significantly since the first game, likely helped by word of mouth and the Director’s Cut refining the experience.
If this momentum holds, it could push Sony Interactive Entertainment to prioritize faster PC releases even more. Definitely a big win for both Kojima Productions and the PC community.

The arrival of Death Stranding 2 on PC with new graphical upgrades highlights that the PS5 Pro version missed out on ray tracing features.
I haven't played 2, and I know a LOT of people really liked the first ( I didn't like it) I think the 2nd too. I don't have a 5 Pro, but may at some point might give this a try on PC. The graphics on 4 Pro were AMAZING! I bet 5 Pro will get a patch though. I am sure it's capable! I just hope the 2nd is more my speed. I'm going to have to check out the reviews again.
RT or not, you're kidding yourself if you're saying that this game was and still is a looker on the PS5 and especially the Pro. It's still among the best looking game this gen has produced
I was very pleasantly surprised how well it looks in 1440p running at 60-70fps on my 5600x and 2080 Super at medium to high settings.
SOME PC's. I love how these articles love to assume every PC gamer has a 5080 under the hood.
Poor Ponies. 🤣🥺 Sad guy who had to purchase this game twice. Good graphics but a dull, dull game.
duh
