The Most Expensive PC Gaming Handheld Just Got A $650 Price Increase

The Legion Go 2 has a great screen and an unaffordable new price point.

If you want less sales your on the right track. Dumbasses.

OMGitzThatGuy42d ago

Considering they dont make money off of game sales I doubt they increased the price just to be cartoonishly evil.

Even though I am a huge gamer and connoisseur of tech. In the inner words of my more responsible self when it comes to buying this thing at that price, "f*ck that!"

Huey_My_D_Long42d ago

Yeah I loved the original Legion Go. As much as I want to save up to get the 2, its simply priced too high to be worth it personally.

It was suggested that people worried about console prices should try switching to PC while totally ignoring that a consumer worried about a $600 console is in an every worse situation if contemplating PC.

JEECE42d ago

I think the idea built into that theory is that people expect a PC to be expensive and in most cases need to have one for other aspects of life, so if consoles become overpriced (as they have) it will just be easier to spend a few hundred more on a better PC (or an upgrade to the one you have) than to spend $600+ on a console. But I think you are right, RAM and SSD price increases are jacking up PC prices so much that the math won't work out.

I guess the "switch to PC" idea still works for people who already have a decent PC and were just thinking about getting a console to play live service stuff, since most of those games don't require high specs anyway.

Spot on. A $600 gaming PC is tough to build (though not impossible with concessions). to build a $900 PC however (PS5 Pro). The PS5 Pro's new price in Australia is now 1400 AUD. Absolutely wild. Can definitely beat that to make a PC here. I'm not sure what the Trump tax is doing for parts in the US however, I can't keep track of what's going on with those tariffs. For reference I bought a PS5 disc drive version for about 650 AUD. That price I can not beat to make a decent PC.

OK I actually started costing out my sweet-spot price to performance PC as well as a sub-1400AUD PC and dayum. I knew prices had gone up for RAM and SSDs but did NOT realise how badly it had gone up for DDR5. jesus. it pushes the sub-PS5 Pro priced PC back onto AM4 and DDR4. It's still doable for a decent PC that would outperform a PS5 Pro but also very much more expensive than it was just a few months ago. In late september last year I bought 16GB (2x8GB) of DDR5 6000MT for $89AUD, today it's $389AUD.

Lenovo abruptly cancels some Legion Go 2 preorders due to overwhelming demand

Engadget writes: "According to the Lenovo team, the demand "substantially exceeded our projections" and led to "unforeseen delivery range extensions." While the orders with Lenovo's retail partners, like Best Buy, aren't affected, anyone who preordered the Legion Go 2 directly on the Lenovo website may see some frustrating news in their inboxes."

It doesn’t mean that they are selling huge quantities. It’s just means that they anticipated very low sales for a very expensive niche product and it sold a bit more than they expected.

Still only going to be a tiny quantity compared to mainstream consoles.

Source on they anticipated low sales?

For $1099 & $1399 OLED? I doubt it. XD
