They want this to replace the Steam Big Picture for PC gamers. And eventually they want Xbox Mode to replace Steam.

PC Gaming is already there with or without Xbox, so why is it a big deal?

Hey, look, they turned the XBOX platform into Big Picture mode! Can’t say I’m thrilled for Windows to have yet another layer of bloat added. XBOX has been reduced to just a label at this point.

How much more junk do they want to put in windows 11? The amount of bloatware you need to deactivate for Windows to run smoothly is insane, the list of commands I have to turn off all the background tasks looks like it's about to get longer.

Not me. I'm using the better version of Windows 11 not that home/pro AI, bloatware filled shit. Windows 11 LTSC IoT.
More stable, no issues with an update giving a blue screen or PC not booting which happened with Windows 11 before. You do get a bit more FPS to.

Xbox has turned into spyware

I used it at GDC earlier. It was like a poor man’s steam. When I clicked on settings, the nice Xbox ui disappeared and a standard windows settings window appeared.

Also the right analog is used as a mouse which just shows how many issues they have.

Typically new "do all" software looks like a good idea but in practice it does nothing well.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
