Nintendo Life Review: RE 7: Biohazard Gold Edition (Switch 2) - A Survival Horror Masterclass

Just in case you need yet another reminder of how old you’re getting, Capcom first revealed Resident Evil 7: Biohazard all the way back in June 2016 – almost a decade ago. Following its release in 2017 and a rather unsavoury cloud port on the Switch in 2021, Nintendo fans can finally experience Capcom’s soft reboot on Switch 2 natively - and it’s excellent.

RE7 brings the series back to its survival horror roots, albeit with a shift over to the first-person perspective. The result is an experience that, in my opinion, has aged like fine wine. Resident Evil has never felt quite so immersive, with stunning visuals powered by the Reach to the Moon (RE) Engine and gameplay that pays homage to the 1996 original whilst adding in a few new mechanics of its own.

Fantastic port! I am now confident that RE9 will be great also on Switch 2. 2 days to go!

Yawn. Most of us have played this ages ago. Congrats i guess 🥴

And paying €50 for a game you can get under €15 on Ps store or steam is just ridiculous.
€20 would have been a more reasonable price imo.

I got mine for just $10 on Switch 2. RE8 as well.

I got the Generation Pack that includes 7, 8 and 9 for $120 Canadian. I paid $15 each for 7 and 8. Not a bad price to be able to take them on the go.

Awesome news. Another Switch 2 success.

And there are reports that the first batch of shipments for both are sold out already. Good thing I pre-ordered my Generation Pack last month. Maybe Capcom didn't ship that many of RE7 and RE8.

Resident Evil 7 And Village Are Damn Near Perfect Switch 2 Ports

Capcom's survival horror games run great and look awesome on Nintendo's next-gen machine

And its a shame Capcom released them on the platform as Game Key Cards. I'll stick to my PS5 versions

Already have 7 & 8 on PS5. Resi 9 is getting great reviews but there's not a hope in hell I'm paying £65 for it on Switch 2. I wont buy it until it comes down on price, purely on principal.

These companies will continue to try and inch up prices until people fight back with their wallets.
