Last week's Nintendo Direct was packed with new third party titles and one of the most ambitious to catch our attention was the Switch 2 port of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Oliver lined up what little footage we have with the PlayStation 5 version to figure out exactly how Square Enix has managed to bring a visually impressive current-gen title to the Nintendo hybrid. Put simply, the footage suggests an intelligently handled, cut-back version of the original game. The closer you look, the more compromises you'll see, but it's clearly still Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and seems to hold up well.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth demo is live on Switch 2 and Xbox, with progress carrying over and bonus items for full game players.
Just like Final Fantasy 7 Remake earlier this year, Rebirth hits Switch 2 with all the confidence and panache of an old-school FF title.
Waiting for my new express card to arrive. My switch 2 storage is already full and this game will be 100gb on launch.
the fact they have to call a modern game running on what is technically a next gen console a miracle is just embarrassing. and its not the first time. every time some modern game gets ported over people clap their hands as if to say "wow, how did they do that?"
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth director shared how its performance at The Game Awards turned the development team's watch party into a "funeral."
I already have both games on PS4(Remake) and PS5(Rebirth), but I'm also planning to buy the entire FF7 remake series again on Switch 2. I already have the Remake on Switch 2 and I was very impressed with it, so I'm excited to buy Rebirth as well.
a next gen console forced to make cuts to make a game work
i mean, we all figured that they'd have to make some sort of sacrifice to make it even run on the switch 2.
