MS gave the middle finger to gamers so gamers gave MS the middle finger back.

InUrFoxHole53d ago

Actually MS has done more for the gamers this gen then any other company imo. The problem is MS is MS biggest problem. Every success is met with a swift kick in the sack

S2Killinit53d ago

This must be an interesting twist on reality.

DarXyde53d ago

"Actually", followed by "imo" is a bizarre way to handle a sentence in English.

That aside, hard disagree. Any goodwill you believe Microsoft has garnered for themselves is immediately wiped out by AI focus (eliminating jobs and causing environmental destruction), increasing the price of Game Pass, gradually eliminating their (admittedly performative) physical games market, studio closures, government lobbying, and massively increasing the price of their consoles as a consequence of their investment in the very industry that's hurting a lot of people. Honestly, many of the issues with them can be blamed on the corporate push for AI.

It's to the point where it's not like we're making pros and cons lists—it is clearly a net negative.

InUrFoxHole53d ago

@DarkXyde
You mentioned goodwill. Not me. That's something different. No arguments from me on that point but you mentioned lost jobs... Sony did that too, Ai sony is doing too, increased prices sony did too. Name the thing you think sony or Nin has done this gen that is better for gamers than MS bringing games everywhere?

Michiel198953d ago

lmao environmental destruction, you do realize all of gaming does that? When sony wanted custom ram, do you think no new equipment was needed to make that? the mental gymnastics people are doing is fucking insane.

I don't get it, it's so easy to make MS look terrible already that there's no need for all these bs virtuesignaling reasons. All but maybe 1 things you say ms does, sony does as well but they get a pass cause you like their ips.

InUrFoxHole,
"Name the thing you think sony or Nin has done this gen that is better for gamers than MS bringing games everywhere?"

I don't think I've said others have done "better for gamers", but if I look at this qualitatively (which I am), I feel that the negatives are quite significant and, in my view, weigh far more than a positive of "bringing games everywhere". For starters, they bought publishers that were already releasing on other platforms—the difference is now they earn from it, so I don't give them any credit there. It's pretty much just their trifecta. Personally, I feel that the VRAM shortage is a massive issue to the point that Nvidia is restricting their GeForce Now play time and they're selling 3000 series cards again. Now we have companies exiting the commercial RAM market. This transition is industry-killing to the extent that it's making everything rentable without ownership. At that point, they could give away games for free and I would still say they have done terrible. I can name good and bad things from Sony and Ninty. Not the same as games everywhere, but I would say just say their good to bad ratio looks a bit better.

@Michiel,

If you think I give Sony a pass, you're unaware of how critical I often am of them.

Outside of hardware-level AI that upscales, I am staunchly against AI use in gaming.

There are no mental gymnastics and you must not understand my point on environmental destruction.

Sony and Nintendo do not have massive data centers poisoning communities.

https://www.bbc.com/news/ar...

Do you understand how much water and energy is used to power these data centers? There is nothing "fucking insane" about what I'm saying.

Some homework for you: Google "Fairwater".

Cheers.

50 downvotes in the last 6 hours? Looks like the resident spammer has been woken from their afternoon nap.

Well it's obvious. Look at Microsoft's marketing in the UK. I have not seen a single Xbox promo, just PS5 and some Switch 2 promo.

jznrpg53d ago

I don’t see them in the US either.

Chevalier53d ago

Its not obvious to some. Waiting for peeps on here to make the same excuses for Xbox like usual 🙄 they spin more than 360

I mean that's what happens when you become anti-consumer

Eonjay53d ago

It just makes sense that the higher the price goes the fewer people that can afford it. Starting out they were selling alot of Series S consoles but given that it now cost as much or more than a digital PS5 (which you can still find for 399) they have priced themselves out of the market.

MetroidFREAK2153d ago

Think that's on purpose at this point

Ristul53d ago

If they had continued the way they did with the original xbox and half of the life of the 360, I would still be a consumer of their products. Oh well...

Xbox has new management, but not a lot of options

It's too late to change most of the decisions that led Microsoft here. So what now?
