RE: Requiem runs like a dream and looks like a nightmare on Nintendo Switch 2 | Pocket Tactics

Pocket Tactics got to play a small section of Resident Evil Requiem on Nintendo Switch 2, and days later, we're still trying to calm down.

this title is extremely misleading. I get the whole play on horror wording, but still.

The article goes on to say:

"At no point did I get that feeling, which I'd become accustomed to with the predecessor console, that I'm playing a defanged or scaled-down version of a game made for more powerful hardware. Requiem feels right at home on the Switch 2, at least in docked mode, which is how I played it."

Extermin8or3_117d ago

I've seen the screenshots it's quite obviously a significant graphical downgrade....

Neonridr117d ago

yet every single person who's played it has said it looks great.

But you've seen screenshots. LOL.

fr0sty116d ago

And we all know how much they doctor screenshots to look better than the actual game, so you aren't making a compelling argument against Estermin8or3_'s point.

@Neonridr

"looks great" doesn't mean that it's not a downgrade.

DarXyde115d ago

A lower tier of Bentley is still a pretty nice car.

Just because it's a "downgrade" doesn't mean it doesn't look great.

I'm not even sure what pointing out the obvious graphical downgrade accomplishes.

He means that the "Nightmare" in the title is that RE9 is also scary to play on the Switch 2.

Neonridr117d ago

I totally get he was just being clever in the wording

salis844116d ago

Why would I play on the docked mode of the Switch vs my PS5/Pro which is connected to the same display?

Neonridr116d ago

not everyone owns both consoles maybe?

repsahj116d ago

Why not? I have both, but I pre-ordered the Switch 2 Generation pack.

salis844116d ago

"According to the comparison, the Switch 2 version appears capped at 1080p resolution and runs at 30 frames per second, while the PlayStation 5 version targets a smoother 60 frames per second at higher resolutions. Visual adjustments are also apparent, with reductions in global illumination, shadow density, reflections, hair rendering, texture clarity, and certain post-processing effects. These changes indicate the level of adaptation necessary to bring the title to Nintendo’s hybrid platform while maintaining playability."

Neonridr116d ago

@salis844 - every place is commenting that it's 60fps. Where are you getting this from, certainly not this article.

The Switch is one gen ahead of PS5 and costs a ton. This is the expected bare minimum.

Neonridr117d ago (Edited 117d ago )

mobile chipset vs traditional console. Hard to call generations when their architectures are so vastly different. It's newer, sure.

gold_drake116d ago (Edited 116d ago )

ahead?

please go outside more.

Another series I'm more than tired of, Resident Evil.

spoonard116d ago

Hey look guys, Nintendo is still a decade behind on graphical technology.

Elda116d ago

I would never buy a multi-plat AAA game to play on the Switch 2. Imo the Switch 2 is for their exclusives & Indie games.

Well deserved. I look forward to future content for the game.

Yui_Suzumiya37d ago

Recently finished it and it's well deserved.

Now imagine the backlash if this was a Sony game.

Street Fighter IV revitalized both the fighting genre and Capcom as a whole. They haven't let off the gas since. And that RE engine really turned it up. It's like everything they release now outpaces themselves. Still can't believe they're bringing back Onimusha. Top 3 games I'm looking forward to this year.

The game has been properly cracked by voices38, no Hypervisor bypass shit. It actually runs better without Denuvo. From Tom's Hardware: "Denuvo properly cracked in Resident Evil: Requiem, bypasses become plug-and-play — cracked version runs faster, smoother, and uses way less VRAM and RAM" https://www.tomshardware.co... I personally don't give a shit about RE anymore, same crap every year it seems, but I got to give to voices 38 good job.🙌

More like the village idiot.

No one knows what the hell you’re talking about, using all those geek terms.

phongtro123_com41d ago

If Mercenaries is really coming back, that’s a huge win. It’s always been one of the most replayable modes in the series, especially in games like Resident Evil 4 and 5. Hopefully they modernize it a bit with online co-op or leaderboards, but keep the fast-paced arcade feel. Would be a great way to add longevity beyond the main story.
