"According to Henderson, the release’s visual style has been toned down from its reveal trailer, and it’s now grittier and less colourful, resembling something like Call of Duty or The Division."

How can you make the art style even worse than it already was??

isarai_lee23d ago

This really goes to show how out of touch many devs/publishers are these days. How do you specifically go in reverse of people's complaints 🤣

Eonjay22d ago

You are complaining to/about the wrong people.

KyRo23d ago

I mean is that a bad thing in this day in age where every game like this shows up with overly saturated colours? A lot of games have lost their grittyness including COD. Bring back 2000s grit

If it’s been 3 years since it was announced and it’s still “not fun” where the head of the studio along with other top developers have left then maybe just f****** cancel it

Oh no no…Bluepoint needs to close instead

I’m honestly buying into the tin foil hat theory that Herman Hulst is being scrutinised by higher ups and if he cancels this game he’s in bigger trouble than he already is. It’s like he truly believes it’ll turn out as a win for him.

Eonjay22d ago

I didn't see a nything about it being not fun. All the report really says is there is a discord where players can give their feedback with the purpose being improving the game. But Tom claims to have seen gameplay and I would be more interested to know what he saw.

We haven't seen any gameplay yet so it feels like we are being asked to form opinions completely blind. Never been my style.

isarai_lee23d ago

Just cancel it, pretty much everything Jim did has hurt the PlayStation Brand, and needs to be excised.

Jin_Sakai23d ago (Edited 23d ago )

Good. I love seeing Jim Ryan’s Live Service bs get destroyed. PlayStation is healing.

Tanktopmaster9223d ago

Bluepoint is still a gaping wound

Jin_Sakai22d ago (Edited 22d ago )

Bluepoint and Japan studio closures were definitely a big mistake.

I also miss Evolution Studios. Driveclub had its issues but damn was it ahead of its time graphically. Also would’ve loved a current gen Motorstorm.

Tanktopmaster9222d ago

Evolution studios 😪🤧 that was another huge mistake. Highly highly talented team brushed aside and discarded. You think of studios like Haven, Firesprite and Bungie. And you compare that to Evolution, Japan Studios and Bluepoint 🫩

Honestly forgot this game existed.

Rangerman1208259d ago

They should just can the game at this point, it's just not worth it 💀

-Foxtrot259d ago

Not a good sign

It could end up another Concord embarrassment for them. Why risk releasing it.

isarai259d ago

Im sure the more they cancel, the more pressure builds to make some form of money back, kind of a feedback loop of failure unfortunately

-Foxtrot259d ago

They could just make smaller games like Astrobot. Clearly people love their platformers.

Smaller teams and less cost development wise means they won’t have to sell what they expect AAA games to do number wise.

isarai259d ago

Wasn't this canceled already? 🤔

258d ago
Lightning77259d ago (Edited 259d ago )

Herman said something about not wanting teams to play it safe but yet want to fail early and cheaply? I wonder what makes this game special to Herman? When Jade Left it was due to early negative feedback of the game. If this game does release I can see it release late next year maybe early 27. Again, if it does release.

Unfortunately Fairgames so far is showing all the signs of a product that's not gonna do very well. There's a high chance of cancelation here.

Eonjay258d ago

Clearly his decision was made as a result of projects failures and development hells like this game. It was a correction to the couse they were already on.

Hopefully

It would be dead on arrival let’s be honest, cinematic trailer or not, first impression wise it looked awful.

RaidenBlack275d ago

Would prefer at least an early gameplay gets leaked

VenomUK274d ago

Jade Raymond didn't leave her own studio because Sony thought this game would be brilliant.

Cacabunga274d ago

Nice.
Cancellation after cancellation yet Herman Hulst standing still. Sounds like dictatorship going on at Sony when execs aren’t held accountable for all these missteps.

Gamers want nothing else than what PlayStation is best at: SP games.
It is totally fine they include multiplayer elements and modes.. we are getting impatient!!

raWfodog274d ago

Can’t believe that I’m agreeing with a lot of what Pachter what saying, lol.

Lightning77274d ago

It's fake its not canceled

P_Bomb274d ago

Destin Legarie apparently asked Pachter about this. Pachter says he misspoke. Doesn't know if it’s cancelled or not.

raWfodog274d ago (Edited 274d ago )

I wasn’t referring to what he was saying about the game’s rumored cancellation but rather to what Pachter was saying about Sony’s push of live service games.

“He talked about Sony Interactive Entertainment’s live service ventures push, calling it a misstep driven by poor leadership.”

“Instead of acquiring proven mobile or free-to-play publishers such as Supercell, Zynga, or Niantic, Sony invested on unproven teams,…”

“He also believes that Sony Interactive Entertainment further compounded the issue by forcing its traditionally single-player-focused studios into making live service titles.”

“He highlighted Nintendo’s consistency, mentioning that Sony Interactive Entertainment’s studios excel when given the time and resources to deliver prestige titles rather than chasing the live service trend.”

P_Bomb274d ago

Oh for sure. The live service push has been a disaster. Lost gen of content.

Seems like Sony is course-correcting. That being said, they should shift these teams to making single-player games rather than shutting the studios down.

Great studios have fell on their face and failed trying to make live service games.

Extermin8or3_274d ago

For the most part they are. Its only the new studios they shut, or ones thwt hadnt performed for a long time.

FinalFantasyFanatic274d ago

It's going to take a while to fully change course, they have a lot of Live Service games in the works.

isarai275d ago

I mean, no one was looking forward to that game 🤷‍♂️

Chocoburger275d ago

Not surprised to see another one bite the dust. Sony wasted so much money but also time on these live service junk games. Whatever happened to single player games that also have an online mode, such as the Uncharted, Killzone, Resistance games?

There's already too many live service junk out there as it is, Sony would be competing for scraps that Fortnite, PUBG, Apex, Warzone, etc. have the majority of the market locked down on. It always seemed like a bad idea from the start.

Lightning77275d ago

Michael Pachter? He's no insider? I'll wait for more sources.

TheEroica274d ago

Because you're hanging on to hope for more live service garbage? Nom Nom Nom....

Lightning77273d ago

What hope? He's not an insider? He doesn't even know anything he even said.

I keep up with the facts and reputable sources.

If true looks like Sony will have a stacked 26. If they do a showcase it will be trailers for games that we know about with a 2026 release.

Good to hear Fairgames is shaping up well internally and has positive reception.

456d ago
isarai457d ago

Oooh a Showcase? Those are the big ones.

Couldn't care less about fairgames 🤷‍♂️

Ratchet23456d ago

I'll be surprised if fairgames does not get cancelled or end up as a free 2 play game

-Foxtrot456d ago

Clearly Concords failure has shifted priorities internally for games like this

I’m really curious how they handle it, they literally bought Haven studios based on just this game, it’s crazy.

gamewalt42455d ago

Good until then I’ll be playing game pass games but dropping that once Sony releases its games love having all consoles.
