If it is a true RDNA2 sony should just reconfirm it. If they say nothing right now it's pretty damning as we will all find out soon and it should come from them. Even DF hinted it is likely not full RDNA 2
You can do that. They are giving YOU the Gamer options. Policies we have never seen until now and others are following.
I'd love to hear more about this at the July 23'rd event but I think we will be waiting till Fall. I hope at the minimum they discusses hardware considerations for xCloud users, like low latency controllers. I've been using it since first round of beta and I am always blown away firing up a game from a hotel room or long commute, I always shake my head in disbelief that this can and does work
Can't argue with this positive message to all gamers. They are certainly pushing policies that are "Gamer" first, and I appreciate it
I don't even own a PS4 and fr what I've seen this game looks amazing
Paid sponsorship and partnerships, business is business
I agree increasing the universal storage bandwidth ceiling will benefit gaming as a whole and will certainly change the way game engines handle assets. There will be memory performance gains once developers figure out the best way to leverage additional storage strategies. I do not believe this will correlate to increased game fidelity or complex game designs (AI, computationally heavy games). Simply, games are CPU/GPU intensive. If this SSD forward architecture was the key to unlocking hardw...
Finally a reasonably no fluff technical explanation of how computing works for modern games to help clear up this tail chasing argument about SSD's being a performance advantage in consoles. Plain and simple they do not matter, this video couldn't explain it better, the guy played a 4K game from a flashdrive at 60 mb/s! Fantastic video that can hopefully put some of these stupid PS5 marketing claims to rest. There is minimal performance gains. Can developers leverage this to come up w...
Loading screens. But it's more a questions for Nintendo consoles and older PC's or cheap SSD.
I don't know what experts will do to truly show a difference, or to quantify these "performance gains" from extra storage bandwidth. I am not sure they can be shown aside from a stopwatch on load screens or technical demos/first party titles and at that point that's a crap shoot because there is no comparison to if other devices could run it. In theory you could take the same GPU/CPU today, swap HDD to high spec SSD and see if your FPS goes up on Ultra settings. But we know ...
lol fair enough I am no AAA game developer. But I can read and have been software developer on large systems for 8 years to understand basic computing. Also, dabbled in hobby game development enough to know and understand how simple game engines work. But you are right, everything is speculation at this point. But everything I said above can be proven with components available today.
Yes, this is known. The only games that will be able to truly leverage PS5 ssd bandwidth are first party games with specific design decisions to leverage it.
PC SSD aren't even as fast as XSX SSD unless you drop $500+ on RAID configured drives. So, any multiplatform game will still be using modern asset loading techniques. PS5 will obviously be faster at this but with modern techniques this is hardly noticable and certainly curious how it will be measured outside of a l...
Not sure there is a debate to be had of which console is more powerful, specs alone speak the truth, XSX. Both consoles have aggressive SSD's (Sony is next level here), but games are GPU/CPU intensive foremost, look at how PC gamers build PC's expensive high end GPU/CPU, then a cheap small SSD (usually).
Benchmark any modern game with the same GPU/CPU but swap storage bandwidth capabilities (SSD), heck put in an old HDD. The fps and performance will not change, pop ...
Not here to hate, I like the videos and glad you're pumped on the game but when it comes to Forza and most sim racing games the difficulty is not the hardest bots - it's driving without any assists on and the rewarding feeling from mastering a cars unique handling without help. It seems like you have most of them enabled, and there is nothing wrong with that. Something to try on your next go around is manual, brake line only, stability off, and certainly turning simulation damage on m...
Did you read, I just said reconfirm. I am aware of what they have said previously. If they Reconfirmed it would shut everyone up about this.
