It's volumetric lighting, HDR is when you move from an enclosed to an open space and the imitated effect of your eyes adjusting to the light... Or in photography it's the merging of 3 images shot at different iso's combined to provide a more crisp image.
volumetric lighting is the effect implied by light taking up space as opposed to just being cast.

Those were shifts in gameplay, from 2d to 3d, not because of graphics.
Why has the 3d castelvania's sucked, and why do we still play side scrolling version? GAMEPLAY.

Like more advanced ai, more ai, better physics simulation, animation, sandbox worlds? Those aren't graphics, but those are things that are gained by new technology that effect GAMEPLAY and STORY.
I'd take all of the above before better graphics any day. I'm glad I don't play online on my ps3, having to deal with such shallow and immature people would suck.

world of goo, braid, plants vs zombies, castle-crashers, flow. All great games, some of the best and top rated on any platform, but they're not the best most technically impressive games.

the ps3 version has been in development longer. And blu-ray provides for more uncompressed video audio.
l4d, wow, the sims 3, etc. All games that rate relatively low in the requirements section, all some of the best selling pc games... graphics dont make a game... unless its on the ps3 apparently... except for mag, that's allowed to have sub-par graphics... damn double standards.
