Well, let me approach this and point out the maybe not-so-obvious. People, in the first place, buy a specific console for whatever reasons, but usually for the exclusives. I'm gonna speak of the 360 for now. If those exclusives have a multiplayer component then yeah, you have to pay for Live to enjoy that component.
